...so Hunter House moved into an old KFC half a mile south on Woodward & is currently remodeling to make it look like a classic porcelain palace. It's awesome to see it take shape as I drive by. They also sent a cease & desist to the failson that operates the sham HH in their old location

The term I know for these slider places is "porcelain palace". Hunter House was kicked out of their PP in Birmingham by the landlord who then handed the place over to his failson to start a burger place that tried to benefit from the legacy that HH had made over 73 years on that corner (1/2)

My 2005 Clone High DVD set from Canada (CH never got a physical release or even fully aired in the US) features an unskippable 2-minute long trailer for The Detour. It drove me nuts at the time, but good on them for being the Canadian home of [AS] & Scudworth & Mr. B

Got to see a 35mm print of it at BAM about a decade ago & everyone went nuts when (spoiler for a 36 year old movie) the film breaks & the house lights went up. It was part of a “puppets on film festival” & seemed like half the audience knew & half didn’t. One of my fave theater experiences

I was a semi-religious NPR listener from 2004 - 2016. Once I noticed all of the donors they'd cite in their "brought to you by" plugs were current or former tech, oil, pharma, etc. execs it changed the way I viewed their reporting on those industries & I ditched them altogether soon after
