Definitely, and households that then have kids or elderly folks on top even more so.

This is an exact scenario type which shows why decoupling benefits and social aid is so so important. We don't have marriage equality until someone can remain their own person whilst married. If they are disabled and need help it shouldn't depend on the income earning potential in the house.

Is this crazy coalition playing politics with their ridiculous four stage fuel plan? We are at level 1. Yet Rabigh has been attacked by Houthis. There’s far less refining capability. There are less ships. Insurance for VLCCs is astronomical. Or are they just burying their head in the sand? #nzpol

Labour admitting they don't want to raise the minimum wage to the living wage is admitting some people don't deserve to be paid enough to live on. Meanwhile, Conservatives who own businesses harp on about returning to family values but refuse to pay their workers enough to live on one income. #nzpol

Yep, next newsletter I saw a call asking for donations for the snacks table. So, it was good to know we can support it - & good to know kiddo hadn't been wrong about it being free food lol. Teens get very hungry & many skip breakfast for a variety of reasons so it was cool to learn about.

Earlier in the year I mentioned to my teen "why is there still fruit here at the end of the week? Have you not been eating any? I know *sibling* gets food in school but you don't? They replied, they did get fruit at school. There is a table of fruit, snacks & lunches. If anyone eats then no stigma.

For me it’s also about this: Nazis will be going to vote. And I’ll be damned if I let their vote be counted while I sit it out. Vulnerable communities depend on us not sitting this out while the people trying to murder them will be participating, and cheering on any of us who sit it out Nope.

I've had people (mainly teens/youth) asking where can they get info about what each party offers that isn't spin. I always answer it's not the media. I feel for everyone to be honest - unless bottom lines are clear and easy to understand - it almost doesn't matter what each party individually wants

#NZpol I'd have thought that although many outlets certainly think their paywalls justified, why *so much* of what the public *needs* to know (and in an election period in seems particularly pertinent one would think, given the actual *issue*) is subject to gatekeeping when so much BS fluff isn't 🧐
