Tomas Lindberg, vocalist for At the Gates, has died at 52. It’s impossible to overstate the impact At the Gates had on me musically. I even arranged their song “And the World Returned” for string quartet and that’s what my wife walked down the aisle to at our wedding. He will be deeply missed.

So the thing that I take away from Frankenstein, and the thing that maybe we all need to be reminded of more than anything else, is that those who are different from us are no less human, and we all, in fact, have an obligation to one another. This is not, I think, a lesson we will ever fully learn, and if we need Mary Shelley's Creature to remind us of this from time to time, then long may he live.
