Super important question: Are the potatoes different for Fresh French Fries this year? I didn't go to the Midway booth for the first time in forever, but the two booths can't be that different, can they? The fries were off. @deardara.bsky.social @stephaniemarch.bsky.social

I’m really digging Mira Grant / Seanan McGuire’s new novel Overgrowth. It’s *very* McGuire and feels like a successor to Newsflesh. Overgrowth is a different sort of book, but, like, it tracks that the same person wrote them. Basically it’s my gross, uncomfortable comfort read.

Lucy van Pelt has finally gone too far. But she will be brought to justice
Part 1 of 4

A Peanuts Comic. Once again Lucy has goaded Charlie Brown into trying to kick a football, and (as usual) she jerks the ball away at the last second, sending Charlie flying into the air.

This time however Charlie lands heavily on his neck and is killed instantly.Part 2 of 4

Lucy kicks Charlie Brown to check if he’s dead. Which he is.
Exasperated, and worried she’ll be blamed for his death, Lucy begins to drag Charlie’s now lifeless body towards the creek.Part 3 of 4

Lucy dumps poor ol’ Charlie Brown into the creek and watches him float away.Part 4 of 4

Lucy heads back to Charlie Brown’s backyard to pick a fight with Snoopy in order to establish an alibi.

Unfortunately a disheveled, crumpled man with a cigar is already there.

“Miss, have y’seen this dog? He’s best friends with a BIRD. Can you believe that?”

That’s right folks. Columbo is here to avenge Charlie Brown.

Penn Jillette has more or less renounced libertarianism, which is good
"I have not used the word Libertarian in describing myself since I got an email during lockdown where a person from a Libertarian organization wrote to me and said, “We’re doing an anti-mask demonstration in Vegas, and obviously we’d like you to head it.” I looked at that email and I went, “The fact they sent me this email is something I need to be very ashamed of. I need to change.” You can make the argument that maybe you don’t need to mandate masks — you can make the argument that maybe that shouldn’t be the government's job — but you can't make the argument that you shouldn’t wear masks. It's the exact reciprocal of seatbelts because if I don’t wear a seatbelt, my chances of fucking myself up increase — if I don’t wear a mask, the chance of fucking someone else up increase.

Many times when I identified as Libertarian, people said to me, “It’s just rich white guys that don’t want to be told what to do.” I had a zillion answers to that — and now that seems 100 percent accurate."
