Berlin voted on 20 Sept, and navigator.berlin now maps it Kiez by Kiez. In 2023 the CDU led the party vote in 96 of 143 Kieze. Now 39. Die Linke leads in 73, up from 4. In 97 Kieze the strongest party changed.
Seven small maps of Berlin, one per party, showing the vote share in the 143 Kieze in the 2026 election. Each marks the strongest and the weakest Kiez. SPD: Gropiusstadt West 18.5%, Neu-Hohenschönhausen Nord 6.2%. CDU: Grunewald 40.8%, Nördliche Luisenstadt 5.0%. Greens: Helmholtzplatz 27.8%, Marzahn Nord 2.8%. FDP: Grunewald 7.1%, Schillerpromenade 0.7%. AfD: Marzahn Nord 45.6%, Südliche Luisenstadt 3.1%. Die Linke: Südliche Luisenstadt 54.5%, Frohnau/Hermsdorf 9.0%. BSW: Köllnische Heide 9.4%, Zehlendorf Südwest 1.6%.Flow diagram of the strongest party in Berlin's 143 Kieze across three elections: 2016, 2023 (repeat election) and 2026. In 2016 the Kieze are split between SPD, Die Linke, CDU, Greens and AfD. In 2023 the CDU leads in most Kieze, the Greens in many others. In 2026 almost all Green Kieze and many CDU Kieze flow to Die Linke, a large share of CDU Kieze goes to the AfD.Map of Berlin showing the strongest party in each polling district in the 2026 state election, party vote, provisional. Die Linke leads in 730 of 1,572 areas, mostly in the inner city (pink). The AfD dominates the north-east and south-east (blue), the CDU the west and south-west (grey). Next to it the Berlin-wide result: Die Linke 25.7% (+13.4), CDU 18.8% (−9.5), AfD 16.3% (+7.2), Greens 14.3% (−4.1), SPD 12.1% (−6.3), BSW 4.7%, FDP 2.5%.

“I would have written a shorter letter, but I did not have the time.” (Blaise Pascal). @terriblesoftware.org explains that the time “saved” by a developer who used AI to make a decision and write code isn’t saved at all. It was just transferred to the next person, who now has even more review time.

Fully agree, and that was my answer: the model never judges time. A scheduler in front decays importance on wall-clock, every retrieval resets it. The model gets a ranked shortlist, the timestamp is just a hint. Time lives in the plumbing, not in the model's head.

What's in a Berlin street name? As our designer Jona finds, a whole lot of places and history. 🪧 🛣️ 📊 A third of the city's streets are named after places that reflect Berlin's growth, place in the world, and (often troubled) past. 👇️ www.datawrapper.de/blog/berlin-...
One-third of Berlin's streets are named after places, shown by a color-coded city map and bar chart with counts: Rest of Germany 1,361; Rest of Europe 911; Berlin 829; Brandenburg 595; Rest of world 73.Map-based infographic highlighting five Berlin neighborhoods with numbered callouts explaining how their street names reflect colonial, navigational, or other historical origins (Afrikanisches Viertel; Schönhauser Allee; Landsberger Allee; Helmholtzkiez; Kissingenviertel).Bar chart of Berlin street-name counts by country: Poland 328; France 139; Switzerland 94; Austria 83; Russia 54; Czechia 45; Denmark 29; Italy 26; UK 23; Belgium 19; Sweden 16; Norway 12; Netherlands 10; Others 37 — many names reflect former Prussian/German ties.

And one more from my research @jyc.dev: CLS theory (McClelland). Single facts stay episodic and get consolidated into a versioned profile. A contradicting fact never overwrites, it becomes a draft pointing at the old one, and you pick. Old versions stay. But as I said: overengineering-trap! ;)

Ebbinghaus: importance decays exponentially, after a grace period. Atkinson-Shiffrin: every retrieval resets the clock (rehearsal), so what you actually use stays. Park et al. (Generative Agents): recall score = recency × importance × relevance. Below a threshold: archive, don't delete.

Tried to build exactly this in spring. The memory part worked, but I ran into overengineering for unrelated reasons (wanted too much for just one user so this project died). The keywords for weighting by freshness are well researched: Ebbinghaus, Atkinson-Shiffrin, Park et al. 2023.

Screenshot of a writing-analysis tool showing paragraphs of text with phrases highlighted in two shades of yellow, brown circular "3" badges, and a black tooltip overlaying the first line reading: "No X, no Y" chains · 3 "no" items. The visible text reads: We r[obscured by tooltip]nd up. No sign-ups, no downloads, no hassle (3) — just paste your text and start writing. Everything runs locally in your browser. The reviewer read the draft twice. Did not flinch, did not blink, did not reach for the red pen (3). That's the whole review, honestly. Don't call it a rewrite — call it a rescue. The improvement is real, and it's not subtle. That loss is worth naming. Sit with that for a moment. The gains were modest, but that's not nothing. You already know the answer, of course. Consistency is the entire game, and the punchline is that nobody wants to hear it. The entire pitch is one sentence long.
