I still feel bad for the spun out studios because they’ll likely need to conduct their own furloughs/layoffs while they seek project funding or acquisition. That kind of thing is heartbreaking. GDC 2025, I hugged a sobbing CEO who lost his biggest client and had to do layoffs almost immediately.

I’m so angry about this. I get that bureaucracy can be a nightmare but this is insane. It’s already nearly a decade behind schedule (with electrification promised in 2017, 2024, 2027 IIRC). Kicking something down the road 10 years is like planning to do nothing.

So curious to see this. I learned about bitcoin in its first year, and the name “cryptocurrency” threw me off because it didn’t sound like real currency. I didn’t think any nation would give up its ability to manipulate its own currency or allow a shadow economy to develop.

Yup. The team needed to be in sync with tech setting rules and both art and level design working within those constraints consistently. It’s a lot easier said than done - especially if the tech constraints create a brand new workflow. Kudos to them.

I haven’t baked bread in a month! Needed to get back into the habit. I didn’t mess around with the new bread pan and just used tiles and a water tray like I’m used to. Also, the poolish was 48hrs old and I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. Wouldn’t do that again though.

This is maddening. Imagine finding out that you paid for a service that then just automated damage to your reputation without your permission or knowledge. Also I wonder if the support was AI or if it is outsourced to a company that is completely disconnected from anyone who can solve the problem.

Out on the ice of lake Nipissing at 1:30AM and I bring in a big catfish. My buddy notices that it has two lines in its mouth. At the other end of that line is my other fishing rod that got yanked down the hole before anyone could grab it - at 5PM earlier that day. Buddy knew we’d get ‘er back.

The whole sales pitch for Gen AI is comical: a product to do a poor approximation of a thing the customer didn’t care about enough to learn. I’m sure they’ll be eager to pay for that thing that lets them do a lot more of that thing they have no passion for.

This was a tricky workflow for lighting. The environment cameras had their own lighting and colour grading stack, and then the tabletop had its own sfx stack, and even if you put them all in the env scene to decorate, it never looked exactly like in-game. Lot's of trial and error. #gamedev #gameart
