I think with Trump in office I'd started to feel like just a cog in the machine. I started to believe at some point that nobody cares and nothing changes. Defeated. But I can tell you that some people really still care. And we have to show up and elect those people. Over and over again.

I said all that to say THIS IS HOW GOVERNMENT SHOULD WORK. Our leaders should care about how things work for average citizens. They should read emails, even unhinged desperate rants sent on Christmas Eve begging anyone to read them. Andy Beshear changed my life. He gave me hope & restored my faith.

She said she had been waiting on my call and she was happy to help. Gave me a list of 3 things to do with minor costs and exactly how to find each resource. She fixed every issue I had within minutes and told me it would all be ok. She was right. I finally got a SS card, a new ID, a job, & hope.

I told him everything and answered all of his questions and he said I'll call you bk within an hr. I honestly couldn't believe it. Twenty minutes later he called me with a phone number. Told me who to ask for and that they would know how to help. I dialed the number and asked for the person.

I got a phone call from an unknown number and hoped it was about a job or the SS dept finally returning a phone call. It's the head of the DOT calling me to say that Andy Beshear had contacted him and asked him to help me. Forwarded my email and said pls fix this. He wanted to help. Finally - HELP.

The night before Christmas last yr I gave up and did the only thing left I could think of and messaged the governor. I told him everything, top to bottom and spared no detail. I submitted it and thought nobody would ever read the whole thing, much less respond, esp at Christmas. Two weeks passed.

I couldn't get a job. I couldn't get health insurance, loans, assistance, etc without my SS card. Without my SS card I couldn't get a new ID. I was caught in a circle of error and going thru a separation after losing my job due to business closure. I was lost and scared and had no idea what to do.

I've hesitated to share this bc I didn't want to open myself up to criticism but I hope one person hears it. It's about Andy Beshear, current Dem governor of KY. Last year I lost my SS card. I couldn't get a new one issued in the state due to paperwork that was never processed thru the SS dept.

Minimum work requirements for Congress and the Senate NOW. Forty hrs a week at least, 2 wks vaca MAX, and every wk day that isn't part of their 2wk vaca needs to be spent WORKING. Congress out of session? Congrats, you're doing a town hall or a community support event. WORK. Can't keep up? RETIRE.
