Now I'm just thinking about the Robert Munsch books I loved as a kid. And have the little tunes running through my head...

On this day in 1986, Canadian author Robert Munsch released his book Love You Forever. It is a book that originated from tragedy but from that tragedy came something wonderful and beloved around the world. This is the story of one of Canada's most acclaimed books. 🧵1/10

Got myself the Good Chocolate recently, because I deserve treats and also because a black sesame hazelnut chocolate bar is *delicious*. Unfortunately, I think I require more treats. This month at work is brutal. Eventually it'll even out but until then...well, at least there's overtime pay I guess

FINALLY FINISHED!! Behold, my entry for this year's @desertbus.org : A Hollow Knight/Silksong bug mask display! The masks are made of porcelain, with some thread for Lace. I stained, varnished, and lined the wooden display cabinet myself. The masks are attached by magnets. I hope folks like it!

Sometimes you get so used to dealing with mild annoyances that you don't think about how easy it would be to just...make it better. Relatedly, I should just go find some good hangers that won't constantly lose their grip on pants. Ah, the excitement of being an adult.

Ok well it turns out that I'll be doing enough overtime this month to cover most of the cost of a Switch 2. So if I could actually find somewhere to preorder the Zelda version I could be tempted... That ship's probably sailed by now, though.

Hey, guess who's done with her Desert Bus Craftalong prize for this year?? @desertbus.org #DB20 #DB2026 #DBCraftalong

Two characters from Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth, standing across from each other at a tiny chess board. The whole scene is captured in a small diorama case meant for storing a baseball. A pretty wooden floor is made with maple veneer.

Close ups of the two characters, from before the glass covering was added. Phoenix looks thoughtful, and Miles relaxed.

The diorama sitting on a stack of papers for scale. The top paper is Edgeworth inviting Phoenix to chess, presumably. The text is "lorem ipsum" gibberish, but the addresses are silly things poking fun at the English localization.

The diorama shelved between Nintendo DS games and manga books, for scale. All are Phoenix Wright themed. The Slash 2 character ship creation board game is just in shot on the right of the photo. This was certainly not an absolutely intentional choice, no ma'am.

So on one hand, the Switch 2 is very expensive, and on the other hand I suspect I'd have a hard time even getting a preorder of the shiny new Zelda version of it before they sell out, so...I guess I'll probably be financially responsible whether I want to or not. :P

I've been bad about posting @desertbus.org craft updates around here but I have been working on it! In fact, at this point I've done about 80 hours of stitching. So have a teaser.

A close-up of one corner of an embroidery piece. There are green grassy mounds with small plants and mushrooms growing around them, and a brown tree trunk going up one edge. The top edge isn't fully in shot but there are drippy light purple bits hanging down from the tree at the top of the photo. The fabric is a deep navy colour. Sitting on top of the fabric is a set of embroidery thread in greens, blues, purples, and reds.

It will never stop being funny to me that the street fighter subreddit has a much better, well reasoned ai policy vis a vis literally all universities.

Hi, thanks for posting! We do appreciate you thinking of us even though we have to moderate.

Our stance on all AI generated content (Images, Video, Voiceovers, and whatever else LLM based AI gets up to in the future):

At best, they are approximations of street fighter characters as the AI has no clue what it is trying to create. Because of this, there is no street fighter content so they are not allowed. (rule 1)

Also, they aren't allowed per our source rule. As AI sources cannot be tracked, we must assume that they use uncredited sources in the learning data. (rule 5)

Finally, AI images, video, text, and voiceovers are barely any different than posting a screenshot of a google search. The level of effort is so low that we consider it spam (rule 3).

Because of these reasons, AI art and other AI content is not allowed.

If you would like to contact the moderators about this removal, you can do so here.

A story I love about Anthony Stewart Head. Thank you to this person for sharing it on Tumblr. What a mensch.

A photo of Tony Head with a fan, standing in a barn near a horse. Tumblr post from dracofidus: If you EVER think Anthony Head is anything less than an angel then you'd best remember that I have always been a huge fan of his and we've always had a little contact over the years and he heard I'd come out as Trans and was having a hard time and that I was kind of sad that the photos I had from conventions with him were of me with long hair and no binder and they were all signed to "Sarah" and so he invited me to spend the day with him at his farm and he picked me up from the station and we just hung out and had lunch and he insisted on paying and look loads of photos and had them printed on photo paper the same day so he could sign them to Jay, along with other photos of him as Giles and Utger and he literally spent five hours chatting with me and got all the pronoun stuff right every time and then he dropped me off at the station, gave me a massive hug. Waved me through the ticket barrier and insisted I message him when I got home so he knew I was back safe.
