Thank you to everyone that supported Ash to play for the NZ U17 water polo team at State Champs in Melbourne. The team left today! I really appreciate all of the support for Ash and I. One of our boys made the male equivalent team so they had to do a Hawks photo for their club team. Haha

Moved back into my house this week after a separation, and it felt so empty that there was a echo in the house. Thankfully every place in Petone is having a sale and that Kmart is cheap. I now have a rug, mirror, some lamps, new plates without cracks in them and a clock. Feeling a bit better.

My parents have a ceiling fan in their kitchen, I turned it on by mistake and Xena (one of my dogs) absolutely lost her shit. Jumping to try and get to the fan, barking the worst bark she ever has. Absolute mayhem until the bloody thing stopped.

We have very exciting news to share, Ash was named today in the National U18 team for Australian State Champs. I'm really proud of her for trialling for this team after the disappointment of missing out on World Champs, having the resilience to keep on keeping on. She's stoked.

Decisions that Luxon and Willis have made with their government have absolutely had an effect on businesses. To say that we shouldn't be looking to government when their decisions directly impact business is ludicrous. The latest hit to income in Wellington is the eye watering water bills.

And as a business owner in Wellington who has been affected by public sector layoffs and people leaving the region, I am really really concerned about the water bills that people have just been sent. They are the equivalent for some households of swimming lessons for their kids for a year for a 1/4.

Been watching a tonne of sports coverage of the games and it has been so striking to me how much resilience these athletes have had to have. Most have stories of a younger them having been told they weren't good enough, bullied etc. Is this a uniquely NZ problem or sport as a whole?

My Facebook memory today was Ash at 6 months old wearing one of the water polo caps, she wanted to wear it I think to look like the girls. Then 15 years later having just finished U18 nationals. Time absolutely flys and you don’t know what the story is going to be.

We beat Queensland state at U18 nationals with 1 second to go to get our highest placing in 12 years after losing our goalie to concussion and having to put a field player in goal for the whole game. 1 bloody second.

Daily I cross at a pedestrian crossing on the Petone foreshore with my dogs, daily I almost get hit at least 1 of the 2 crossings. Today after 8 cars didn't stop, I stepped out & copped abuse for stepping out. I told him that I wouldn't move until he shut up, we both sat there for 5 mins. FML

It’s been a day today trying to get to water polo nationals away from home, climate change is real and disruptive. At the airport at 5am all flights cancelled today and wasn’t able to get to it because next available flight is Sunday. It’s our 4th big storm in 6 months in Wellington.

For those that saw my message last night, thanks for the advice, it went really well this AM. I had been suffering from a bit of imposter syndrome lately & it was great to be involved in robust high level discussions needing to use my brain. In the end it was good to go, comfort zone and all that.

We’ve had a dreadful run the past 18 months with staff, I have 20 this term to do the work 14 did in term 4. We have someone sick tomorrrow and can’t cover them (Its a regular occurrence but if I hire more staff at the moment there are not permanent hours for them). Anyone up for some work?
