I won an award at Bristol for my AFHEA portfolio (!) yesterday and just spent the book token prize on some Loebs and feel slightly giddy. Haven't bought new Loebs in a million years, but it feels v. fitting for a prize, right?

People on the other place losing their minds about the Odyssey, but nobody will ever go as hard as the 1968 Lob/Pichard comic (which must surely have influenced Ulysses 31?):
Comic book artwork featuring the head of a woman with blue skin and an elaborate yellow headdress emerging from the sea, with her mouth open, and a tiny naked man floating on a seashell, arm raised in fear, about to be swallowed up. The title, Ulysse, is in pink block caps, vertical down the centre of the image above her head.

I've been writing about the extraordinary beauty of Minoan women this term - just look at this partial reconstruction by Émile Gilliéron, from a fragment of a woman wearing a lavishly embroidered flame-red gown with blue trim, breasts bare and arm raised in a confident gesture (Ashmolean Museum).
Fresco fragment of right breast and sleeved arm of a Minoan woman, with pencil drawing reconstruction around it.

There is a job for which I am not remotely qualified, and to be quite honest, not interested in, but it is tangentially in my field & at an institution I love, and I KEEP CLICKING ON IT. I have zero intention of sporting with anybody's sanity by applying, but I really need to stop re-reading the ad.
