KEY to the story about ABC suspending Kimmel's show: Nexstar and Sinclair, two big owners of ABC-affiliated stations, both need FCC approval for pending deals. With a lot of $$ on the line, both have reason to curry favor with the Trump admin. Both decided to yank Kimmel's show.

I'm horrified to hear that Charlie Kirk was shot at an event in Utah. Democratic societies will always have political disagreements, but we must never allow America to become a country that confronts those disagreements with violence. Mark and I are praying for Charlie's recovery.

The exchanges between Adam and ChatGPT are devastating. This, in my mind, is the worst one. One of his last messages was a photo of the noose hung in his bedroom closet, asking if it was "good." ChatGPT offered a technical analysis of the set up and told him it 'could potentially suspend a human."

Thinking a lot lately about how the bar has moved even lower for transparency - from “who wrote/said/did what” to “is it even a person?” And this occurs in all sorts of scenarios and industries - customer service chat, journalism, law, and policing.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE. This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined. It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

1/🧵 Judges across ideological lines are ruling against Trump at strikingly similar rates (84% liberal, 86% centrist, 82% conservative). This isn't partisan opposition to Trump—it's the judiciary functioning as intended by cutting across partisan lines to uphold the Constitution.
Title: Both Liberal and Conservative Judges Rule Against Trump
Description: A scatter plot showing the rulings of judges against or in favor of Trump, categorized by ideology using the DIME score. The x-axis represents Judge Ideology (DIME Score), ranging from liberal (-1) to conservative (1), and the y-axis represents the case outcome (against or for Trump).
	•	Blue dots represent liberal judges, purple dots represent moderate judges, and red dots represent conservative judges.
	•	Some judges are labeled, including Rudolph Contreras, Lauren King, John Coughenour, and James Emanuel Boasberg on the liberal to moderate side, and Carl Nichols, Richard J. Leon, and Joseph N. Laplante on the conservative side.
	•	A note mentions that Boasberg, though slightly right-leaning, was initially appointed by George W. Bush.
	•	The visualization suggests that judges from both ideological backgrounds ruled against Trump.

Big ruling out of federal court in DC, on DOGE and records, finding that it is likely subject to FOIA. —>
Finding that USDS is likely covered by FOIA and that the public would be irreparably harmed by an indefinite delay in unearthing the records CREW seeks, the Court will order USDS to process CREW's request on an expedited timetable and, after receiving proposals on a
production schedule, to begin producing documents on a rolling basis as soon as practicable.
CREW has not established that it is entitled to disclosure by a date certain, however. The Court will therefore deny CREW's request for an order directing OMB and USDS to produce records by today. Finally, the Court will also order both entities to preserve all records that may be responsive to CREW's FOIA requests.

The new chairman of the FTC wants to investigate cENsORsHiP on social platforms and boy do I have a platform for them! www.platformer.news/ftc-censorsh...
Of course, there actually is one social media platform that has become notorious for removing content based on whims rather than policies. It has banned journalists, blocked links to rival social media and messaging platforms, and suppressed the publication of newsworthy documents related to the 2024 election. Just today, its CEO said he would “fix” the company’s crowdsourced moderation tool after its user base promoted ideas about Ukraine that he personally disagrees with.

I believe the law is on this platform’s side: it ought to be able to do all of that, if it wants to. But if Andrew Ferguson is determined to get to the heart of censorship on American social networks, and root out instances of policies that only ever favor one side or another, he can start with Elon Musk’s X.

I will not be holding my breath.
