Saw my first tortoiseshell butterfly of the year today. These little characters hibernate over winter, popping out when weather warms, looking for nettles to lay their eggs on. But they need dandelions (like the green-veined white below) for energy first 💪. No dandelions/nettles, no tortoiseshells!
