Am reading my first Clarice Lispector (An Apprenticeship or The Book of Pleasures) and not sure I get the hype.

I got rid of my smartphone over the summer (after 12 years: I was a late adopter) for an e-ink minimalist dumbphone & I gotta say: what a relief to wrest my brain back from the hellscape of a handheld screen offering me everything, everywhere, all the time. Highly recommend.

Reread COMMONWEALTH this week -- I remember not really resonating with it the first time around (in 2017), but damn, it hit me hard this time. Beautifully layered, nuanced, multi-faceted. (The case for rereading: we change, and our relationship to the text changes, sometimes for the better.)

It Has Come To Our Attention by Christine Sneed

After an eternity with the same laptop, which stopped updating its OS about a million years ago, I've finally ordered a new computer. I expect this one will last till my writing "career" (ahem, bad habit) has run its course. At which point I'll go back to stone tablet.
