It makes me feel mental, we're subsiding predatory gambling companies that destroy lives, and doing so in a way that forces thousands of dogs to be killed and dumped every year

We’ve had to listen to some very unimpressive TDs talk shit about public sector workers needing to prove their worth and up their game. Meanwhile the sight of an almost-empty greyhound track and the yelping of mistreated animals gets them humming the national anthem as a tear rolls down their cheek

I actually love billions going to subsidise fossil fuel companies instead of long term solutions. It's class that we can afford to prolong the issue of fossil fuel dependency indefinitely. I love it

23,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 joules. That’s the amount of heat the oceans absorbed in 2025. A number so huge it’s almost meaningless…until you realise it’s roughly 40× humanity’s annual energy use. The ocean is buying us time. We’re running out of it. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

The public across EU want rights protected & more regulation of AI and big tech not less!

Obviously I think we need to immediately stop building datacentres and probably demolish what's there but I'm also grimly interested to see when, if ever, the government would say it's enough. When there were blackouts?

The €1bn spent on fossil fuel sinces April would have put 8kw battery & solar on 100,000 homes buying them energy freedom for 20+ years. The €1bn+ that will be spent over the next few months would bring that to 250,000 homes. What we lack is will and vision

The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage claimed disclosure could harm wildlife crime investigations and future prosecutions, but the Information Commissioner disagreed.

Sorry for shouting but... THE ENTIRE POINT OF CCS IS TO ENABLE MORE FOSSIL FUEL USE. That it captures jack shit doesn't matter. All fossil fuel interests need to do is claim that the emissions their extraction produces will be removed from the atmosphere. At some point. Somehow.
