Still loving the Cattfirmations Calendar by Lim Heng Swee that @welnoan.bsky.social gave me in January. Good message for the crunch time of the last week of spring quarter www.ilovedoodle.com
Photo of June’s calendar. The caption is “I give myself permission to rest”. The art depicts mountain islands shaped like napping cats in dark orange, green, peach and browns in a slate blue lagoon. Two, white, lounging. cat-shaped clouds partially cover a golden sun in a beige sky. Each dates is a different color to celebrate Pride Month.

An in-deck flower bed as seen from the vantage point of our deck chairs. Blue salvia and delphiniums, pink zinnias and foxgloves, and orange giant marigolds. View of my office from the floor where I’m flat on my back with my feet up on the chair. Various science Professor accoutrements are visible in surfaces. Some highlights include (from left to right): a small poster of Beaker and Dr. Bunsen from the muppets, a bottle of ibuprofen, a poster of cytoplasmic mRNA granules, the window with a nice tree, my desk plant, my union water bottle, a green, metal street sign on the wall that reads RNA DR, a framed poster with from the U of Utah Humanities department that reads “Science may tell you how to clone a T. rex, but humanities can tell you why this might be a bad idea.

Putting a stamp on a letter fills me with more existential angst than it used to.
A usa forever (all lowercase) stamp with a blue hummingbird hovering front of a yellow sunflower on a blue background. The stamp is on a brown envelope. Fittingly, the content of the letter is about the importance of persevering in order to build a better world where those for whom perseverance is demanded far too often can actually thrive.
