This is for @josheyler.bsky.social: “Several peer institutions recently imposed limits on the number of As instructors can give in a subject. We do not advocate this kind of grade rationing, in part because we expect it to be counterproductive in helping the Institute navigate the challenges of AI.”

This is *essential* reading. Many of us in Mississippi have been shouting into the void that the "Mississippi Miracle" is a mirage created by an increase in standardized test scores that does not map onto meaningful learning, particularly as it relates to reading comprehension.

Cue the annual spate of commencement speaker controversies. 🎓 Pomp + circumstance has its place but I'd like to see more student-led graduation ceremonies. Guessing there would be fewer long speeches, more celebrating. Less controversy, more joy.

My sabbatical is coming to an end. I am coming back to teaching a full load in September, for the first time since the burnout, which left me with fatigability. So, starting to prep in order to pace myself (#PostBurnoutSelfcare), on a wonderful writing pad offered by a dear colleague.
On a wooden desk (one can see a white keyboard on the top left), a dark blue lined post it with a to do list, and a pen (silvery top and handmade wooden body, another gift). On the left of the post it, a writing pad with a dark green cover (it happens to be ma favorite color). The cover is decorated by black dots diminishing in size towards the bottom of the pad, where it is written in black and capitalized letters “unorthodox ideas right here”.
