But the real news for me is the support for universal childcare. Boy, howdy! Maybe it's the question wording, but I'm assuming people aren't just straight up not realizing someone has to pay for it...

New poll has Jackson at 49.3% - not over 50, but awfully close. Poll is by Maine People's Resource Center, which is pretty straightforward and reliable. 56% view Collins unfavorably. drive.google.com/file/d/1nVC9...

It's just wild to be in a race where some PAC funded by Leonard Leo can spend more than my entire budget on a single ad on Meta, using AI, and getting virtually everything wrong.

I can't believe we're letting this clown live out his little fantasies on the public dollar in the public square. Why isn't he universally shunned and made fun of? How did it get this far?

Obviously he has reached some pretty impressively low polling numbers, but I am pretty sure there are STILL just millions of people out there who literally don't know things like "he is running ads about how great he is paid for by taxpayer money intended for line-of-duty death memorials"

But the PAC also just happened to have some really great video footage of my opponent. Wonder how they got that? Because, of course, there's no coordination going on between Laurel and, say, my opponent's treasurer, who happens to be the House minority whip. Because that would be illegal.

Hey-hey! I was served my first attack ad against myself last night! Paid for by Laurel Libby! I love that Medium Buying, the Ohio-based company she paid $100k to on 9/30, decided to use the wrong aspect ratio for Instagram. Very savvy!

Hard to believe how broken and ethically rudderless major journalism outlets have become. Sad stuff when you can't tell whether you're being screwed by ethically bankrupt journalists or by AI bots pretending to be humans. They have succeeded in making "trust nothing and no one" the default position.

And so it continues... Our economic debates seem utterly disconnected from the reality. That reality: This is an economy mostly creating healthcare jobs, and it does so month after month, and everything else is just noise.
Line chart titled "Effectively all of the net job creation has been in healthcare and social assistance, and jobs are shrinking in the rest of the economy" showing change in non-farm payrolls since January 2025 through September 2026. Healthcare and social assistance added 998,000 jobs with consistent growth throughout the period, while the rest of the economy lost 222,000 jobs, meaning all net job creation came from healthcare. The rest of the economy showed particular weakness from May through August 2025 when losses reached 218,000 jobs. This striking divergence reveals an unusual concentration where one sector's growth of roughly 48,000 jobs per month has offset persistent contraction across all other industries combined.

Oh, dang, Mamdani on Theo Von. People are going to hate it, but I love it. We need to be unafraid to talk about how awesome government can be for us. For everyone. Politics isn't just about preventing negative things. It's also about delivering the awesome! We can live in amazing places!

This is crazy. Young people need places to go out and have fun. Did a kid die? For sure. But kids die on motorcycles every week and no one calls for banning motorcycles or raising the driver's age. We know kids' brains are being poisoned by social media and AI, but they drive the whole economy!

Very good debate coverage! Sounds like LePage got dog-walked. Dunlap even got in a "I've lived in Maine my entire life" jab. LePage is giving off Janet Mills' "why am I running for this office again?" energy.

Universal basic income ensures that everyone has the ability to express basic demand for basic goods and services. This is market improving. Markets can't differentiate between 0 and Ø. A store can fail because not enough customers. But is that because they didn't like it or they did but were broke?

Yes, it's ill-informed people. Yes, it's the business model relying on sensationalism. But it's also the hollowing out of the media, in general — zero time to go beyond first google hit for additional sources, most staff being overworked kids in their 20s who never even got decent training.

The people who love AI are the same people who think everything is just a box to be checked. "Ope, it's a rule we gotta work on suicide prevention. Let's just hit the AI button on that and we'll be good to go! Next!" Nevermind we're trying to keep our servicefolk from offing themselves. Whatever.

I know it pales beside the naked pay-for-play, but the whole reason PACs can spend as much as they want is because they're legally not allowed to coordinate with campaigns, which have fundraising limits, and literally no one seems to be denying that Collins and the 1820 PAC are clearly coordinated.
