Bras d’Or Lake, in Cape Breton — introducing the kids to the land of my ancestors. Holiday doesn’t get much better than this.
An over-the-shoulder view of Bras d’Or Lake in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, where the waves are rolling gently and the mountains on the opposite shore loom in the distance. A pre-teen girl stands with her back to the lens on the right side of the frame, looking out onto the water.

After five weeks of work, the 2026 Summer Institute in Papyrology has concluded. Feeling very grateful to the hardworking students, instructors, and especially our funders, especially the American Society of Papyrologists and @sshrc-crsh.canada.ca.

Found this on my office door today and am vacillating between 😬, 😳, 🤯, and hopefully not 😵. Were it not for the Summer Institute in Papyrology, I think I might be working from home for a little while.

Just back from a viewing with the Summer Institute in Papyrology participants, and feeling that justice was served on this front. Will need to reflect on a few other aspects of Nolan's vision, though.
