The ruins of Kilchurn Castle on the opposite side of Loch Awe, and just along from the Bog of Eternal Doom. Much muddy squelching occurred in order to reach this viewpoint

First of my pics from this weekend’s epic trip up to Scotland, with a bit of moody drama below Buachaille Etive Mòr on Friday. I wanted misty mountains and we most definitely got that!

Another one of my favourites. I think this was from a couple of years ago. #Photography #BlackAndWhite #Monochrome #Birds #Fog
This is a black and white image of a foggy scene. In the distance, you can see a telegraph pole, which is surrounded by a flock of birds. You can see some of the field, but not much. The fog is too think to see very much.

Sanctuary This was one of the best mornings I can remember here in Bristol. A blanket of mist stretching all the way across Bristol, with just the Suspension Bridge, Clifton Observatory and Christ Church breaking through

I was waiting for Aslan to appear this morning at Stockhill Wood in the Mendips, which had a nice layer of snow across it. I got there just in time to catch the end of golden hour, with some beautiful light breaking through the powder-blasted trees

'Souls Tied' On 02/07/22 , I received a phone call from Nigel Danson who informed me that my image 'Souls Tied' was the overall winner in World Landscape Photographer 2022. A classic image of mine, and one that is deeply personal. Alt text for the story behind this deeply personal image.
Story behind this image: In 2021, a good friend of my wife's sadly passed away. Lynsey, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in October 2015. When diagnosed, she was informed that she would be lucky to see Christmas that same year. However, Lynsey bravely battled the cancer for five and a half years before she passed on 11th April 2021. This image was made on 14th April 2021, the morning of Lynsey's funeral. As soon as I seen the two birds fly into my frame I was immediately reminded of Lynsey and her husband Simon. This is a very poignant and personal image.

Crook Peak in the Mendips, 2nd December last year. It was flipping freezing up there. The best conditions we’ve had here (well for photography anyway) in years - the freezing mist and hoar frost lasted all day long

Nearly crashed the car when I came across this scene. I saw mist over the Chew Valley near Bristol, and drove right into it, rounding a bend to find this scene in front of me!

One of my favourite moments with a camera this year, from the hills above Bruton in Somerset. On my way up I had noticed the interesting lines of crops in an adjacent field. I hurtled back down when I caught sight of two deer wandering across it - just as golden mist swept over the top

A friend just reminded me of one of the lovely traditions that #Iceland has - lighting up the graveyards in the winter to remember & celebrate the dead. There is so much darkness there in mid-winter, so it's wonderful when you see these lovely lights. Hnífsdalur, Westfjords, Dec 2020.
Blue dusky light fills the scene, with snow-covered mountains visible in the distance and a graveyard in the foreground. There is a statue of a man at the back, with a fjord behind him. The rest of the snowy graveyard is full of gravestones and illuminated crosses (with the wires visible on the ground!).

Even my go to 35mm lens wasn’t wide enough for the look I wanted from this popular Southbank chip van, meaning a return visit with an even wider lens was required. The cod and chips was lovely too. #streetphotography #photography #london #night #nightphotography

Glastonbury fly-by… Hoping to get back here soon - still yet to photograph a murmuration, which is ridiculous given how long I’ve lived around this area. Not sure this one counts - it’s an early sunrise lift-off instead. Take a closer look and you’ll see thousands more starlings closer to the Tor
