(2) PERSON 1: Only two instruments remain. Do we want to lose the plasma wave subsystem or the magnetometer? (3) PERSON 2 with ponytail: You know, if we just turned off Greg’s LED underlighting– PERSON 4 with short hair: Absolutely not. PERSON 3: Dammit, Greg. A tale of two castles. Kilchurn in the rain the day before presented little to photograph and then Castle Stalker the next morning in quiet but changeable conditions. At least it brought a bit of colour, and a few otters to watch. #photography #landscapephotography #photographers

I went to the west coast to photograph some castles, but found a couple of cracking boats in a tiny breakers yard in Appin. I’ve not seen this colour scheme before and the textures in the old timbers were fantastic. I couldn’t resist stopping in the torrential rain for a few photos.
The bow of an old fishing boat, with lovely blues and cyan colours.

I’m delighted to have been shortlisted in the British Photography Awards with “Strands on the Strand” taken on Colonsay. This is the third time I’ve been a finalist and once again, it’s NOT in the Landscape category! I’ll bet you’ll never guess . .

Another one from the archives that I hadn’t spotted previously. I’m thinking about upcoming exhibitions and other projects and spending too many hours in front of the computer checking haven’t missed anything from previous years. Glad I noticed this one lurking unloved, until now. #photographers

I didn’t enter much in the Minimalist Photography Awards this year so I’m delighted to get an honourable mention again. That morning in the freezing cold paid dividends as I also had a different photo win a category in the Scottish Nature Photography Awards so bring on the snow and ice again please!

The pointy ends of a couple of very interesting ships. One is the huge tug/supply vessel Siem Opal, the other Leviathan, a superyacht allegedly used for ocean research. It’s owned by Gabe Newell, is worth $400m and has more features than I can fit in here. Too shiny for “proper” photos though.
Two bows, one sleek, white and pointy. The other red and stubby.

Currently trawling through about 450 boat images. I need to whittle them down to around 100 favourites but it’s not proving easy. Especially when you find ones like this that I hadn’t even got round to editing! #photography #abstractphotography #photographers

It’s not often the first photo of the day, never mind a trip, is worth editing, but here’s one where I had a couple of seconds to grab the camera and shoot. No time to think or adjust settings, just click and hope. From Oslo harbour. #fsprintmonday #photography #landscapephotography #photographers

There’s some amazing architecture around Oslo, though this wasn’t one of my favourites. It’s the Munch museum, comprising several galleries of his work, and leans over the harbour as if about to fall into the water. #photography #landscapephotography #photographers #norway
