Oh, I might move to Kyoto for a year next year? My wife has some colleagues there and there's a possibility of a sabbatical year in the cards. I'll get excited about it properly if it gets confirmed. I've really missed living in Japan, I think it'd be great to be there again but for a shorter time.

I speak decent Japanese, it's my only real second language. I have also learned a bit of French and Mandarin. My wife is soooo much more impressed when I manage to get out a couple of words in one of those and be understood than she ever is when I do more complicated things in Japanese.

My dad is a musician and my mom was for a time as well. They were always very anti-80s music despite growing up in the 80s, so I only heard blues and classic rock music during most of my youth. I kinda assumed they must be objectively right about music. Most of my favorite music is 80s now.

Looking inside the last (and 3rd contemporaneously, I was 14/15 when this came out and 12/13 when Blood and Gold came out) VC novel I read and remembering how mad I was that my mom wouldn't let me go to the library and check it out. These books were my LIFE ages 12-16. Anyway, cute note.
