The Govt has appealed another of my #FOI wins to the Federal Court. Again it’s seeking costs against me if I’m unsuccessful defending my win. It turns out winning an FOI in a Tribunal is expensive - and that’s exactly the message the Govt wants to send to citizens. 1/2 #auspol

The media is once again desperately reporting the opinions of cafe owners. Not being able to add a credit card surcharge is sending them broke, just like paying staff a living wage sent them broke, and government red tape sent them broke. I am starting to think they aren’t cut out to run a cafe.

Bit of scaremongering about EVs going on here. Any modern ICE vehicle is just as vulnerable. The type of energy used to operate the car isn't the issue. It's computerised systems and internet connectivity that are also found in modern ICE vehicles. Why focus on BYD? Why not Tesla?

By the way, it’s not normal. Not meant to be anyway. If it happens in a case, that it took them years of investigating just to find nothing, it’s generally a failure on their part. It can happen but it’s not what you expect as standard practise for an anti corruption commission.

Sugar hit. My cartoon in today's @theageaustralia.bsky.social and @sydmorningherald.bsky.social
A political cartoon by Megan Herbert showing a recreation of the Stanford Marshamallow Test in two panels. Panel 1: A young child is seated at a table on which sits a pink marshmallow on a plate. The child eyes the marshmallow, but keeps their hands neatly folded as a suited, grey-haired man explains the rules. (In the background is a bag of marshmallows on a table and, just visible, a tiny grasping hand coming into frame.) The man says, "So I'm going to leave the room until you're ready to retire, and if the superannuation marshmallow is still there when I return, I'll give you TWO marshmallows, which I'll store over there for..."
Panel 2: He finishes his sentence with a frustrated scowl, "...safekeeping," seeing that the marshmallow bag has been raided and emptied by another child, wearing One Nation orange, unable to delay her gratification.
