I finished my first October classic read, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a fairly short book that is very heavy on detail and set up. It's a product of it's time and not really my thing but it was worth taking the time to find that out. Next up- The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde 🎃

Last night I read Unsaved (A Tale at the End Book 1) by Pemry Janes. It's an intriguing sci-fi dystopian novella following a robot doing what it takes to survive in a world that doesn't accept them. A quick read with deep themes. Also I love the cover. #booksky

I managed to update my WIP section of my website, only one day late this time. I still plan on posting updates on the 25th of each month, but the 25th of August is a little rough because it would have been my mom's birthday. In future years I may aim to update early in August to avoid being late.

Today is #InternationalOwlAwareness day, so I am going to talk a bit about owls, as well as why I used one on my book cover. Owls are a fascinating species of bird that serve an important role in the ecosystem by eating small prey like insects and rodents. They are also just really pretty birds.

Finally got around to reading The Oracle Asylum by N. Sonia Nkera. It had been on my to buy list for a while but a recommendation from a mutual moved it to the top of the list, I second that recommendation. A great read especially if you like fantasy books. #booksky

Having potato salad for the third night in a row due to massively mis-calculating how much was needed. Super easy #recipe- Potato's cut, cook, drain and cool. Eggs, boil, peal, cut. Mix mayo, salt, pepper and paprika then mix in with potato's and eggs add green onions/chives and your done.

The second #recipe I "mastered" was crepes, which my dad taught me, although I have adjusted the recipe since then. His recipe was 1 Liter of milk, 2 eggs, whisk, then add flour 1 cup at a time until it reaches the thickness you want (usually around 4 cups) then fry on medium heat in a buttered pan.

Aphantasia effects my reading experience and my writing in nearly opposite ways. While reading I tend to spend the least amount of time on descriptions (Unless written really well I tend to skim.) Conversely when writing I spend a lot of time on descriptions cause I want to get them right.

My book started with two characters, which became a scene followed by a plot. Then the setting was built around the story and characters. Those factors then swirled around in my brain each effecting the others until the full story was formed.
