That's not genAI, that's computer programming that's been around since the 90s. My dad is a computer scientist who developed the non-linear algorithms for it, using mammograms. GenAI bros want us to think it's all the same so we think positively of their crap, but one is actual science.

'it's a tool, you need to learn to use it', ok, but in using it, I see more people who extensively use it spend more time and make worse results than if they didn't, and since it's being called a 'tool', I'll call it a bad tool, and what do you do with a bad tool, you throw it away

As for the booze ban, well... provinces choose where they buy from. They could put out the stock they already have, watch it sit on shelves, and just... never buy any more.

We need to pull back the preferred pricing the US gets for our exports. Yes, this means energy, potash, critical minerals. All of it. Across the board. Stop giving them our fresh water for free, too. I will continue to avoid American products, and wish the government would do the same.

You know, I really think we need to stop giving the US such a low price on oil, electricity, potash... I mean, the whole reason they get priority pricing and access is the series of agreements that they keep violating. Also, retailers: stop hiding your US product labels, you assholes.

yikes :(
Instagram post from Loryn Brantz. Text reads,

I am horrified and disgusted by BuzzFeed taking my character, The Good Advice Cupcake, and giving it to an Al platform. My time at BuzzFeed was marked by continually being taken advantage of and lied to. They repeatedly assured me in good faith that they would never do anything with Cuppy without my input, yet offered me no legal options, insisting that I would never need them. The news that this character, who is based on my own personality and whom I created as a microphone to spread love and positivity, has been taken and turned into a soulless Al puppet feels like having my intestines pulled out of my body.
Somebody leaked the news to me early on that there were talks happening, and I pleaded with the CEO Jonah Peretti directly not to do it. Instead, he tried to talk me into signing an NDA. Obviously, I did not.
This is an assault on artists everywhere.
I encourage you to boycott BuzzFeed and any Al-produced or adjacent animation.

So, just throwing this out there, but if the communities don't want pipeline expansions/tanker traffic, I'm fairly sure the municipalities can, in fact, decline permits. I mean, wasn't there an airport in Ontario back in the 80s that got blocked that way? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Much of the Jewish left is naive about antisemitism, especially when they pin it only on Israel's actions (and here, "Jews"). Israel matters. So do weaponized accusations. But antisemites have spent a decade building a system, and Israel is one way they exploit it. This thinking erases that.
Daniel May: In the preface to your book State of Others: Levinas and Decolonial Israel, you write, “The center of the unfolding catastrophe is not antisemitism, if that term means, as it should, anti-Jewish racism, the attribution of imaginary vices to individuals because of their Jewish descent. Today’s growing anti-Jewish sentiment would be better described as anti-Judaism, or anti-Jewishness, which is hostility to what Jewish people, as such, actually do. But the deep crisis of the hour does not arise primarily from sentiments toward Jews. Rather, it arises from what is currently being done in the name of Judaism.” There’s a lot to unpack in this claim, which is extremely helpful but also extremely provocative. Let’s start there.
