#adoptee Page 4 of the UK Nov 2024 case showed this up in judges language that is so honest about Adoption-delusion and still the 17 yr old was not granted a Revocation even though the Adopter agreed and Birth mother .. Labour interfered in the case. Pro-adopters you see.

If welfare supports revocation maybe we need to be rethinking our current outdated adoption laws 🤨

Farage: "7.2 million foreign-born people have registered with GPs in the last 10 years... All I'm doing here is giving you cold hard facts". Well here's another cold hard fact - 40.6% of GPs in England and Wales are foreign born. The NHS would completely collapse without workers from abroad.

I hope my local MP @andrewpakes.bsky.social is one of those who attends sessions on the care system and becomes proactive in standing up for vulnerable children, young people and families! I am currently really disappointed with @teamlabouruk.bsky.social approach to supporting children & families

Sadly it feels as if adopters get more sympathy when dealing with a broken system as it falls into the 'saviour' narrative and is easy to blame the unworthy first parent - reality is too many first parents are the children who were removed and / or not supported with their own trauma

@andrewpakes.bsky.social I do hope as one of your constituency I can count on you supporting this call for adoption reform in the Parliament News article above? The current adoption crisis is a reflection of the social care system for all families and drastic changes are needed

Ruth Scotten @ruthscotten.bsky.social · 18/04/2025
I agree there needs to be reform and a lot more understanding about the lack of post adoption support however, my personal and professional experiences suggest to me there needs to be a lot more going 'upstream' to support first parents properly and prevent separation and the 'need' for adoption

I've emailed my MP a number of times now I'm so frustrated about the impact of what Labour are doing to vulnerable children and families. What a blow, to find the right therapist (which is like gold dust) then have funding almost halved! Desperately hoping that the decision is overturned

It's a situation seen over and over again, it usually leads to frustration and more overwhelm in wanting to do more and knowing individuals you are working with deserve more than you have the energy reserves for, too often resulting in moral injury and noone benefits

It's been a journey! Luckily my girls have 2 mums (first and adoptive) they can bounce between becasue of the relationshis we built, it's not ideal but too many children and families are struggling and it boils my blood that the current government seem insistent on making things worse for us all 😔

Ruth Scotten @ruthscotten.bsky.social · 14/04/2025
My girls went back to live with first family before we got any support, they didn't get any support their either! I'm the first to say the system needs a shake up but this isn't the way to do it!! Now my frustration is now also as a provider of adoption support services - it's broken on all sides 🤯

Ruth Scotten @ruthscotten.bsky.social · 14/04/2025
So disrespectful! Families often don't reach out until they are in crisis (we didn't) after exploring alternative ways to manage, the delays and hoops that are necessary to get essential support was already causing extra familial trauma this is a complete insult to children, families and providers

I'd love to see more first families "supported for life", to prevent the need for adoption! Adoption shouldn't be about fulfilling a desire to become a mum as it undermines the reality of grief and loss experienced by adoptees and their first families

My advice to social workers would be to metaphorically take your eyes off the clock - to slow down, even when time in scarce. Because assessments and meetings will always be there, but you will never get the time with the child in front of you back.
