The most interesting Fable tip I've heard so far is to let the model use its own judgement as much as possible I told it "For all coding tasks use your judgement to decide an appropriate lower power model and run that in a subagent" and it seems to be saving tokens simonwillison.net/2026/Jul/3/j...

I just found this article I wrote in Computing with the Amstrad ( December 1985 ). I'd forgotten about it so it was a really nice surprise to find it after 40 years! It's a techincal article about programming the Amstrad CPC's 6845 CRTC ( video controller ). The BBC Micro has exactly the same CRTC.

I'm realizing that with AI tools (coding + non-coding tasks) they are absolutely a superpower when I know what I want to do, am locked in, and don't let myself get distracted. Then it's truly like having a mecha suit. When I don't have it, it's "meh." Not the fault of the tool!

One of the things I enjoyed about Pocket was the "discover" pages. I always found interesting stuff to read. So, I built it for Bredbox using Astro, Gemma 4, Supabase, and Redis. Get your invite here: bredbox.app

Here's a more complex animation in picoCAD 2. Making meshes return to their original position to get seamless gifs is a bit tedious and I probably need to come up with a solution for that. #lowpoly #3d #gamedev

Knight Lore for the BBC Micro was visually ported by my schoolfriend Paul Proctor. No source or data was provided by Ultimate, he had to figure it all out by himself - and fit the entire game into 32KBytes! Here's the game assembling from the original source code, with only 21 bytes free!

I've had many ask me "How should I learn Git?" After all, it's the industry standard in code backups and history. Surely there must be good guides? Well, I struggled to find one I liked for newcomers... So we made our own! 🎉 Check it out, let me know what you think!

A few years ago when I was troublingly deep into Elite Dangerous (flight stick, throttle, the lot) I used an EQ to make it sound like Spotify was playing in my ship's cockpit, and had this moment where a song perfectly synced up with a hyperspace jump.

The GitHub #Copilot code generation instructions has saved me "edit-time" afterwards. In an #Angular context this is useful to automatically prompt Copilot to use "Modern Angular" APIs with each request. For more information about instructions see code.visualstudio.com/docs/copilot...

Accessibility time for #picotron Jetpac Defenders. Added auto-fire option so holding fire fires continuously. Much easier on a controller (as opposed to keyboard) & I know some people (such as Cathy at indiegamerchick.com) get hand pain from repetitive firing. All suggestions welcome #gamedev

I’m genuinely puzzled by how many people on this platform are critical of AI. Like it or not, AI is here to stay, and dismissing it won’t make it go away. Instead of resisting its presence try to better understand how to use it to your own benefit.
