And then, because I wanted a feel of home (where beaches are often smaller, rougher, hidden…) I visited “Secret Beach.” And it felt like the park at the bottom of my street. Just need some mink.
Pathway through trees and leaf litter to the rocky shoreline.A small stretch of sand bordered by rocks and trees, calm water in a semi-protected bay.The view from the picnic table at secret beach. Tree boughs lean overhead.

Hi, I’m a sighted alt text user! Here are some reasons I use it: - Slow Internet on an airplane - I’m over 40, I have no idea who that celebrity is - Bluesky broke images again - My vision sucks and that text is too small to read otherwise - Conveys further context and authorial intent

On top of the missed extra point on the previous drive. Trevor Lawrence did his long snapper a solid by praising him in the post-game interview for the snap on the winning FG and no mention of the screw up.

this Jaguars-Eagles game was a master class in screwups but the ending? fabulous Eagles take the lead with 8 seconds left, Jaguars get a great kick return, but he's tackled too soon... and Cam Little wins it when the referee says "please put 1 second back on the game clock" #NFL

Naming an Italian film genre "Spaghetti Western" is kinda wild in retrospect, like imagine if we'd called all anime "sushi cartoons" or Bollywood "butter chicken musicals"

Great piece, I had no idea just how awful he is until I read it. Employing Pollievre and Ford ex-staffers, being an aggressive boss, calling women councillors bitches. What a miserable person, massively unsuited for being a councillor, let alone mayor. Vote Olivia!

footnote: the brilliant whitewash that has given the White House its name was not applied to cover scorch marks -- it was first used in 1798 to seal the porous Aquia Creek sandstone of which the building was constructed

"When Britain Burned the White House" by Peter Snow historical non-fiction, created from journals and letters of those who participated -- an entire book covering three weeks in summer 1814 despite knowing the outcome, i'm fascinated by the details of this expedition 4 of 5 stars

Talked to a low-info voter today. Thinks Chow has ruined the city, doesn’t want her kid walking past drug users, etc. This is what conservatives do. Starve civic society of resources, then vanish into the woodwork and re-emerge to blame those left in charge for not fixing the chaos they created.

French and Indian War, War of Independence, War of 1812 -- all saw significant action on Lake Champlain, which flows north, but some authors will say Burgoyne chased Arnold down the lake to Ticonderoga, when that's upstream

Making my way downtown, walking fast, faces pass, and I’m... probably looking for a field mouse. 🪶🦉🦅 #OhMyDouglas
A juvenile Red-tailed Hawk strides purposefully across a vibrant green lawn, looking directly at the camera with an intense, funny expression. Captured mid-stride with its legs wide apart, its heavily feathered thighs resemble poofy, spotted pants or trousers. The hawk’s white chest features a distinctive "belly band" of brown streaks, and its mottled brown and white wings are tucked tightly against its body. The bright sunlight accentuates its fierce yellow eyes, sharp beak, and yellow talons, contrasting sharply with the soft, out-of-focus grassy background.
