This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. It means the world, and I wanted you to be among the first to know that squash is in the oven and kale is in the fridge.

As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing

I’m confident my brother and I took spots at BTW that could have gone to others. I’m very glad for the education I received in the magnet system, but given how little I applied myself (didn’t figure out that education was actually good until my sophomore year college), I’m sure I didn’t deserve it.

My family moved out of Tulsa, to just east into Catoosa, in ‘87 while we were still at Carver. For reasons unknown to me even now, we lied about our address, and “lived” at my mother’s place of work, in Tulsa proper, to stay in the magnet system.

We had mandarin. I took three years of it (but only made it through Chinese II, as I did not apply myself in high school). The more affluent students in class even went on a trip to China. I was not one of those students.

If Amnesiac fails to make it past the round of 16 — meaning it is only one of the #9-16 albums of 2001 — the validity of this entire endeavor to determine the “Best Album of 2001” will be called into question. There is no way Amnesiac is not one of the top 8 albums of 2001. Fix this travesty.
