A new "Tea or Coffee, Stars and Gravity" review, this time highlighting @crossingwinter.bsky.social @roxanellanque.bsky.social and Meg Candelaria (Buy a copy here - aanpress.com/aanorder.htm...)
Mostly really good, and certainly worth your time- maybe grab a coffee or a tea and pick up a copy of this book to enjoy.
There's a two or three stories I didn't really get on with, but there's enough variety here to please everyone.
Particular stand outs for me include Coffee or Tea? by Meg Candelaria, Oolong Eternal by Roxane Llanque, and The Worst Stardrive in Paradise by Celia Winter.

Almost every essay we publish is at least that long, often longer. People still enjoy deep reading & are looking for a good excuse to immerse themselves in something worthwhile—especially in a clickbait economy/world. Clickbait articles are cheetos & some of us still prefer a well-prepared meal 🤷‍♂️

Infectious diseases killed Victorian children at alarming rates — their novels highlight the fragility of public health today
Between 40% and 50% of children didn’t live past 5 in the US during the 19th century. Popular authors like Charles Dickens documented the common but no less gutting grief of losing a child.

the most gentle paragraph i have ever read might be of use today:
"The little parrots sleep in the interior of the palm canopies at night and forage on the abundant flowers just after dawn and again just before sunset. They bask, play, and nap in the shade of the swaying fronds in the heat of the midday. Should it rain, they they retreat and huddle in the palm's interior until the shower passes. In late afternoon, the lorikeets range around in small groups and call to other groups, which they may then go visit, much as do parrots in other parts of the world." --Parrots of the Wild, Catherine A.
