Outstanding press night last night @royalcourt.bsky.social for #AfterTheAct by #BreachTheatre A great use of verbatim to tell vital stories of the enforced silence of section 28. Got me thinking about my school yrs in the 90s. A stark reminder of the damaging rhetoric we are witnessing again today.

Today’s high court ruling is not a victory for anyone. Certainly not for women. No one is free until everyone is free, and my rights are not contingent on the hammering of the basic human rights of others. This will never not be true.

I’ll save you your time and money Sir: over half of the population have been underdiagnosed due to gender and racial biases and are finally getting that redressed now there’s more access to information and more diverse medical practitioners & researchers. What a waste of resources and hysteria.

Telling a group of people, many of which have serious mental health difficulties, that you’ve made a political choice to remove their money because they’re too much of a burden on everyone else (even if they have a job & pay tax) is pretty extraordinary from a Labour govt

on the govt having to make 'difficult choices'; a difficult choice would be expending political capital going after billionaires + multinationals, knowing the press would mercilessly attack them for doing so. attacking most vulnerable + maligned is not a difficult choice it is a convenient one.

'Balancing the books' on the backs of poor and disabled people was wrong when the Tories did it, and it would be wrong now. It’s a political choice - one that could push 700,000 households into poverty. Our government should instead tax the ballooning wealth of the super-rich.

Israel's siege on Gaza, the blocking of essential aid and the cutting off of electricity are textbook acts of genocide, designed to systematically starve 2 million people. It's shameful the Labour government continues to refuse to recognise this for what it truly is: genocide.
