A tumultuous July and the lead up to India's 80th Independence Day forced me out of writing retirement and I penned some thoughts here. rooshi.medium.com/an-india-of-... TL;DR (inspired by 'leave the gun; bring the cannoli') Leave the persona, bring the idea. Also, India is full of contradictions

Cuba is dark, Sudan on fire, Venezuela unstable, Gaza razed & West Bank oppressed, Ukraine entering a 6th year of war, Taiwan anxious, "Af-Pak" is at it again and of course Iran, Lebanon, and most of Arabia and the Levant teeters. So let's pick a fight with the Vatican. Obviously. Oh the humanity!

It’s profoundly ignorant to suggest that the Pope should be fighting crime on behalf of the Catholic Church. Anyone who was remotely familiar with Roman Catholicism would know that that’s what Daredevil is for

Ah, so Andy Weir is like... *dumb* dumb gizmodo.com/andy-weir-st...
“I dislike social commentary. Like… I really hate it. When I’m reading a book, I just want to be entertained, not preached at by the author. Plus, it ruins the wonder of the story if I know the author has a political or social axe to grind. I no longer speculate about all possible outcomes of the story because I know for a fact that the universe of that book will conspire to ensure that the author’s political agenda is validated. I hate that,” Weir said. “I put no politics or social commentary into my stories at all. Anyone who thinks they see something like that is reading it in on their own. I have no point to make, and I’m not trying to affect the reader’s opinion on anything. My sole job is to entertain, and I stick to that.”

“For instance, as a lifelong Star Trek fan, it’s always bothered me that there is a presumed ‘responsibility’ within Star Trek shows to talk about social issues,” the writer added. “I just want to watch Romulans and the Federation shoot at each other.”

There was ONE ATC in the tower at LGA during last night's crash. ONE ATC, at LGA!, dealing w ALL air and ground traffic, including a plane filling w a strange smell and no gate to return to. The Pentagon wants $200B for a vanity war, but our ATC towers are empty. Budgets are moral documents.

Reminder that James Earl Jones was the showrunner/writers' choice for playing Quincy M.E. They wanted a dashing, dynamic and handsome coroner but an actor with clear gravitas. Studio blocked the casting. Quite literally (and very openly) due to racism.
