@penn-mediated.bsky.social is at the #CJ2026 and would love to chat with folks. Come to our workshop where you can run your own LLM audit (today at 3:30) or I'm giving a talk tomorrow on the broader needs for scientific and longitudinal monitoring of LLM politics (in Parallel Talks 1 at 1:30).

It’s unfortunate that gen AI providers can continue to dismiss evidence of something going awry in their models bc the “newest” version wasn’t used (even if the model used is still in prod). Research can’t keep up and newer models cost more per token/API call. This era of AI evals is expensive!

It's important to make clear that it is medically impossible to differentiate between a medication abortion and a miscarriage. So while this bill is wrong on so many levels (that I haven't covered here), it could hurt ANYONE who has a terminated pregnancy, whether or not it was spontaneous.
020
Ro Encarnación @rone.bsky.social · 19/03/2026
Fourth, the bill co-opts environmental and water pollution concerns to force people to catch kits (medical waste bags) to collect remains so they aren't flushed. Meaning they would have to collect their blood into bags and bring it to a health provider. Adding another layer of inhumanity.

Ro Encarnación @rone.bsky.social · 19/03/2026
Second, they want to amend 18 U.S. Code § 1531 to read "Abortion Crimes" and add "chemical abortions" without a provider present to the statute. Third, they want to REDEFINE abortion as pictured, with biased language. Alabama and Oklahoma (both have near-total abortion bans) use this definition.
Screenshot of the bill's abortion definition which includes the use, prescription, administration, procurement, or sale of anything to be used to terminate a pregnancy and result in the death of an "unborn child".

Ro Encarnación @rone.bsky.social · 19/03/2026
Today in horrific news: House Republicans introduced the "Clean Water for All Life Act" requiring a health provider present for medication abortions. First, the bill opens with "chemical abortion" which is not even the correct term. So that should tell you a lot about this garbage bill. >> 🧵

Thanks for continuing to read, cite, and share this paper. It remains controversial in some corners of the discipline, but I stand by it completely. Many Black folks don’t use terms “liberal” and “conservative,” which makes the liberal-conservative scale a noisy tool for studying Black politics.

Don't believe a company that says AI (esp. genAI) has helped their engineers do more/better work. Ask about the quality of that work. How many security issues since the intro of AI into code workflows? How many down reports? What's the difference in # of bugs introduced?
