Ukraine blows up Russian data centres and immediately and mysteriously online talk about Germany’s Far Right AfD virtually disappears. Stop Putin you stop the Far Right.

For what it's worth, I think Trump completely made up the Russia diesel deal as well. He makes sh1t up, that's all he does, and he also knows that because America is powerful, others will sort of roll with it/ work around it/ jump to it. He f***ing loves it. C***.

Of course they didn't. I thought that the moment I heard the news. He just makes sh1t up all the time.

It's not great that 'only' 35% of Americans still approve of Trump - it is f***ing disgrace that that many Americans still support him.

Trump completely made up that 'energy ceasefire'. A figment of his deranged imagination.

I wonder if Americans in general understand the damage being done. There is a ground war in Europe. Russia has invaded its neighbour, without any justification. And the United States is now siding with Russia. What do you think we Europeans think of that?

I'm warming to the theme that representing a political party can kill someone's ability to think independently or critically. Bias and motivated reasoning take over until the boundary between self and party becomes blurred. Or maybe this is just the Right. bsky.app/profile/rola...

One session I went to was with Gabrielle Rifkind on her book 'How To Agree To Disagree'. It did inspire me... to go and re-read Ian Leslie's 'How To Disagree', which I seem to recall was rather good.

Is it now a feature of failed Tory PMs that well after leaving office, they keep going on about the main thing they pushed as PM despite it not working at the time? Sunak: Rwanda. Truss: Mini budget.

Just home. Quite fun. And I listened to some of the festival while driving there and back. My personal takeaway: you learn more, quicker and more effectively, from the written word than from the spoken word. As I run a podcast, I guess that makes me Gerald Ratner.

(Clarifier: Yes, Pryce made a point of saying she is *still* against joining the Euro. At the start of the pro-EU pitch...)

Roland Smith @rolandmcs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
By contrast, you have pro-Brexit partisans Fraser Nelson and Penny Mordaunt sounding/ appearing calm and accomplished. Penny is building factories everywhere (apparently) and Fraser pitches as a very cosmopolitan European against the EU.

Roland Smith @rolandmcs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
One of the first things Pryce said is she's always been against joining the euro. Also on the pro-EU side, we have @anandmenon.bsky.social who is great but is an independent observer/ commentator. The pro side consequently appear to be losing this debate. #TimesBrexitDebate

Zelenskyy is right. Let's hope Ukraine has a healthy stock of drones and cruise missiles to apply its own sanctions on Russian refining and exports. One benefit of Trump ending almost all aid to UA is that he no longer has much leverage in Kyiv to persuade it not to.

Traitor.
Donald J. Trump I @reaDonald Trump
I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter. Additionally, based on the condition of their Diesel Refineries, Russia will then deliver, within a short period of time, 3,000,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel. Between our TOTAL CONTROL of the Strait of Hormuz, and this great announcement on Russian Energy, Diesel Prices for Americans and, indeed, the World, will be COMING DOWN, IN RECORD NUMBERS, AND FAST! Lower prices for Americans, especially our Great Farmers, Ranchers, and Truckers, is my Greatest Priority. This is a very big and important announcement. Additionally, it must be understood, that Iran will not have a Nuclear Weapon! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

Richsrd North, once a mainstrean Eurosceptic, wants to ban the newly elected Holborn MP and Kemi Badenoch (along with Zia Yusuf & Suella Braverman & deputy speaker Nus Ghani Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg from elected office). He would want two British-born parents to be the test of eligibility!
