With a noise as if the frame of reality tears apart, hands erupt from the rift in the ground, and grab at Aziraphale’s legs, trying to rend him apart. White wings erupt from the angel’s back and start beating to resist the pull from below. To no avail.

Crowley: Angel!

He grasps Aziraphale’s hand like Crowley is the one needing to hold on, like he is being torn from this Earth. The tips of Aziraphale’s wings turn jagged and black; something is charring them with a fire that not even the camera can pick up.

Crowley: Angel, don’t let go!

The grotesque hands yank the angel’s calf and Aziraphale buckles. He stumbles to one knee, immediately sinking into the ground up to his thighs.

Aziraphale: You will be pulled down, too! You have to let me go!

Crowley: No! Not again!

And then, Crowley’s feet burst into flames.

Aziraphale lets out a scream that sounds as if he’s in agony.

Aziraphale: I’m sorry I didn’t say it!

Crowley: I’m sorry I was too hurt to let you.

This is my favourite bit from my new chapter, and it's by curtesy of PinkPenguinParade!! I was complaining about how to make sense of Az postponing his confession when the world is ending & there wouldnt be time. She suggested for Az to say 'Well, we'd better save the world, then, didn't we?" 💜

Crowley: You were about to say something.

Aziraphale: Later.

Crowley: Angel, this is the end of the world. There might not be a later.

Aziraphale: Well, from what I gather, you were quite adamant that you didn’t want to be told what I was about to say in a “Yelp review.” (He uses finger-quotes.) And I don’t want you to have another “crash-out” (Again.) because I said it on camera. Which I didn’t, by the way. Say, I mean. In a Yelp review. Context matters, Crowley.

The Bentley finally comes to a stop in front of the huge animal that has no business being on a street in the middle of London: Behind the whale is a coffee shop, a vinyl shop and a bookshop, and something that feels like destiny.

Crowley: Didn’t say what?!

Aziraphale: We’ll talk after.

Crowley: Again: The world is about to end! We can’t talk after!

Aziraphale: Well then…

Crowley: Yes?

Aziraphale: (huffs) …you’d better come up with something clever, or I’ll never talk to you again, will I now?

The angel squares his shoulders and gets out of the car.

Crowley: (taking a deep breath in and out through his nose – then, angrily:) Guess we’d really better save the bloody world, then, won’t we?

The TIC ending makes me so immeasurably happy! The funniest thing is: I feel the ending I wrote for Yelp Chronicles pales in comparison & yet THAT makes me happy too! I'm gifted with two new endings this month; one from Rob and one I wrote myself and through all the hurt s3 caused me, I'm at peace!
