The cluelessness of this reminds me a lot of the NFT grift. The thing about NFTs was that it was mainly something finance bros were into, and when they were trying to worm their way into gaming, their pitches were an abyssal trench of bad ideas because they couldn't grasp why people played games.

I think if I was in a horror movie where everyone was creepily smiling at me then I would simply be unaffected because I'd avoid eye contact (looking at the ground whenever possible) and not notice them doing it.
