rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 24/09/2026So what is everyone doing for an OSF replacement? My main use would be posting data and syntax, less about pre registering hypotheses. Most of my data are small files (excel documents not fancy imaging data). 111
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I’d love to hear from some journal editors about how they use that scale. The 1-5 ones that follow after about data quality, analysis, clarity, etc seem more helpful. I mostly use 60,70,80,90 though I almost never say to reject. I figure editors should decide if there is a revision path or not. 010

rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026This project also marks a shift in my research program to more carefully consider the role of discrimination and sociocultural context in personality dynamics. There is a lot I have to learn, and change about how I approach this research, and looking forward to growing in this way. 000
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026But hopefully we provided some support for the idea that discrimination has important impacts in daily life and can be conceptualized as distinct from traumatic stress. We hope the case study showed the usefulness of combining sample-wide and person-specific patterns to better understand a person. 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026A more central critique is in measures: Would not combine different types of discrimination into a single checkbox, can you self-report psychodynamic concepts?, differences in TS and discrimination measurement (baseline vs aggregated checkboxes) make content based comparisons difficult. 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Weaknesses in the study include people (demographic composition homogeneous, low on constructs of interest generally) and analyses (How many moderations? In that sample size? 14 data points for a case study 😒) 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026In the paper show how to integrate the case study findings, but here just really want to show how to highlight person-specific linkages among certain self-other, emotion-defense patterns, and to quantify the role of discrimination impacting those patterns. 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026We correlated discrimination with all the outcomes in the study, and correlations were compared against others who also experienced discrimination. Some relevance for her self-concept and anxiety, but emotion-defense links were weaker on days experiencing discrimination. 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026We see different patterns for emotion-defense links depending on the emotion, and some of those effects were stronger than others in the sample. Note with t=14 the correlations need to be huge to even reach the p<.10 significance we use, so maybe is a pretty obvious pattern to the person anyway. 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026We see interesting patterns for detachment, which was higher overall compared to others and had a more potent lagged effects compared to others in the study. 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026We also worked in a case study using this data from a participant that had high levels of TS and discrimination exposure. Used the sample itself M and SD to create convenience based "norms" and tried to show how to apply ESM data like this to an individual case. 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Same thing for emotion-defense within-person associations. Stronger linkages for people higher in TS, non-significant for people reporting higher discrimination that day. For people reporting higher discrimination overall (bottom row) we see weaker linkages of defenses with empty/depressed emotions. 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026We used within-person associations among the self and other items, and emotion and defense items to create patterns of self-other and emotion-defenses. TS and discrimination again showed distinct patterns of moderation. TS strengthened links of self-other patterns while discrimination did not. 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Did the same thing with psychodynamic-like daily self report items of self concept, others, emotions, and defenses. Again distinct pattern for TS and discrimination. 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026TS and discrimination had different association pattern with outcomes (AMPD at baseline, aggregated into iMean and MSSD, moderation of lagged AMPD variables). This is consistent with the view that discrimination has important impacts on personality, but useful to conceptualize as distinct from TS. 100
rochephd.bsky.social @rochephd.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Sample was 278 undergrads, completing a baseline and 14-day daily diary. We measured the AMPD (LPFS and PID-5-BF) at baseline and daily, and measured discrimination (combined age, race, gender) as daily checkbox. We measured traumatic stress (TS) at baseline. 100
