Results We were unable to identify any randomised controlled trials of parachute intervention.

Conclusions As with many interventions intended to prevent ill health, the effectiveness of parachutes has not been subjected to rigorous evaluation by using randomised controlled trials. Advocates of evidence based medicine have criticised the adoption of interventions evaluated by using only observational data. We think that everyone might benefit if the most radical protagonists of evidence based medicine organised and participated in a double blind, randomised, placebo controlled, crossover trial of the parachute.

Just heard a @springernature.com journal is requiring authors to pay for open access (~$5k) to submit an invited paper if they want to be compliant with the new NIH policy. If that's how Springer is planning to handle things going forward, I know of a number of journals I will no longer submit to.

Im a clinical psychologists researching why teenagers use substances and how we can improve substance use treatments for teens from a developmental perspective. I’m particularly interested in the roles of parents and peers in teen substance use and treatment.
