It was incredible. Chatted with my son the whole game. My son’s off studying abroad this semester so I was solo on Sunday (one section over from that Yankees year). But he and I crossed off park 25 in Boston before he flew out and we’re seeing Fulham on Boxing Day. So it’s all good.

I was at the Astros/Cards game on that beautifully chaotic last day in 2011 (by the end listening to the Braves with my five year old son - one earbud for each of us). I’ve gone to every last home game since. None have matched that but I haven’t regretted a one.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Made me think at one point about The Manuscript Found at Saragossa (which I adapted for the stage years ago though it never progressed past a reading). I suspect you probably know that book better than I do, but on the off chance you haven’t encountered it - check it out.

The US Army realised in 1941, as it spooled up for war, that it needed around 500,000 typewriters to function. so great was the need that they had to requisition and ration them. HALF A MILLION. Equivalent to 40% of the entire US domestic supply at the time. Logtics wins wars.

In fact, right now, we have exactly the opposite. You don’t have to be a socialist to believe that you should be taxing billionaires their wealth. Not the use of the word "detained" here to make it appear as though the settlers have some legal capacity to be doing this. If i ran up on a US Rep with a rifle and prevented them from leaving it would be, correctly, described as kidnapping; and doing so with political ends would be terrorism.
