The youngest person his pager attack killed was 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah, who had just started 4th grade. The pager was on a table when it went off and she picked it up to take to her dad. It exploded in her face and reports said it covered the room in her blood. She wanted to learn English.

Oktoberfest time! A reminder that only two of the six breweries exclusively allowed to sell beer there are not owned by brewing conglomerates: Hofbräuhaus: State of Bavaria Augustiner: Independently owned Spaten, Löwenbräu: AB InBev Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr: part of a group, 30% owned by Heineken

My new book is finally out! A short, readable overall history of beer tracing the long lines in the development of beer. Seeing history like that inevitably brings out an overlooked side of the history of beer: beer as a source of massive power. Please repost! www.garshol.priv.no/download/pow...

If anyone is wondering what the new Tennent’s Stout tastes like, it tastes like nitro stout. It is a bit sweeter and more chocolately than Guinness and slightly less acidic.
A black keg font with the red Tennents logo and the word StoutTwo pint glasses of stout. The word stout can be read on the lettering printed on the glasses.

Shocked and saddened that the nearly 500 year old Brauerei Neder in Forchheim is threatened with closure. Something must be done.

2/ I mean, what do you have to do to be a part of the established narrative of prehistory and archaeology? I did a Masters, I spent 4 years applying in vain for a PhD, I attended conferences, presented papers, wrote papers, was shouted at by professors and made fun of cos I study beer and brewing.

Short version of hot takes from a trip to Germany: - Germany needs minimum pricing, not for public health reasons but for beer quality - AB InBev has to be broken up and banned - Augustiner is a national brand now - Oberpfalz is a whole world of its own - Deutsche Bahn is not as bad as people say

In Brazil AB Inbev is apparently launching a new product under the Spaten brand, brewed in Sao Paulo, with 10g of protein per unit. Anyone know what the BJCP or the purity law have to say about putting collagen and whey protein into a Munich Dunkel? extra-globo-com.translate.goog/economia/not...

Think how the budget airlines do it. They show their best price FIRST. Then add to it with extras. Railways do it the wrong way round. They show their most expensive price first, & expect you to whittle it down with research into railcards & hidden deals. If you don’t give up and drive at stage 1!

One of central Prague's 🇨🇿 most notable tapsters, Standa is retiring after 30 years at U Rotundy. He has seen much change over that period and was a welcoming host. After a period of ill health a few years ago, and 1000s of beers poured, he deserves his rest! 🍻👍

Jurors have an absolute right to acquit a defendant according to their conscience, irrespective of the directions of a judge. In other words, if a jury decides that a person who stands accused of a crime made the morally conscious choice, the jury may find them “not-guilty”.

Hypothesis: What if Radeberger Group aimed to destroy their own Kölsch business, bringing down Früh in the process (who need the revenue from brewing Radeberger’s Kölsch brands), to make way for Allgäuer Büble which they seem determined to force on everybody.
