FWIW, here's a 1970 version of that apocryphal Thomas Jefferson prayer that Mike Johnson read in the House of Representatives today. It appeared in The Cross and the Flag, the magazine of Gerald LK Smith, a white supremacist & Christian Nationalist who was America's most notorious antisemite.
PRAYER OF
THOMAS JEFFERSON
ALMIGHTY GOD, Who has given us this good land for our heritage, we humbly beseech Thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will. Bless our land with honorable industry and prosperity.
SAVE Us from violence, discord and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and every evil way. Defend our liberties and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues.
ENDOW with the Spirit of wisdom those to whom in Thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that through obedience to Thy law, we may show forth Thy praise among the nations of the earth.
IN THE TIME of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in Thee to fail; all of which we ask through JESUS CHRIST. OUR LORD.
- Amen.

Every single one of these articles is the same: Blame Democrats for capitulating to "progressive advocates," blithely note that no one in power has actually done that, then tell Democrats to do exactly what they're already doing. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
The Atlantic: How Democrats Lost Their Way on Immigration
How did Democrats fall so far and so quickly on immigration? It’s easy to blame Trump, and the lure of his xenophobic rhetoric. But we believe that immigration has become a losing issue for Democrats over the past decade because elected leaders have followed progressive advocates to the left, beyond the political space available to them. Voters, feeling unheard and frustrated, may have squirmed at Trump’s racism and radicalism, but they also saw him as someone who took the problem seriously and was trying to address it.

The administration invoked emergency authority to make it easier to remove those without a legal right to stay; secured help from Mexico to crack down on smuggling networks; increased the number of removals and deportation flights; expanded legal pathways for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans by soliciting U.S. sponsors and granting humanitarian visas, resulting in a 99 percent decline in illegal crossings for people from these countriesThe message should be: “Illegal immigration is a problem, but there’s a right way and a wrong way to deal with it. The right way is by imposing order on the border, removing public-safety threats and those found ineligible for asylum, creating pathways to legal status and citizenship for those with deep roots, and making sure our legal-immigration system addresses labor shortages and reunites close families—as long as American workers aren’t undercut by unscrupulous employers in the process. The wrong way is by ripping families apart, especially those that have been contributing to their communities for decades.”

Elon Musk's net worth has surpassed $450 billion, largely because he was the single biggest funder of the Trump campaign. Musk could end world hunger for 10 years, and still have billions left over. In 2021 Musk said he'd give $6 billion to end world hunger. He never did so.

Reporting from northern Gaza, Hossam Shabat describes how people are desperate for any shelter from the cold and rain and are sleeping in buildings weakened by relentless Israeli airstrikes. Those buildings are turning into mass graves. 🔽 @dropsitenews.com www.dropsitenews.com/p/in-norther...
With no place to go and with the onset of winter cold and rain, displaced families are increasingly seeking refuge in severely damaged buildings and bombed out homes in a desperate bid for shelter, only for the structures to eventually collapse on them, turning homes into mass graves of concrete rubble.

The Abu al-Omrin family was just one stark example. “When the walls of the house collapsed on us, the sound of the children's screams haunted us,” said the 18-year-old survivor. “We couldn’t save anyone because everything was piled on top of us.” They chose to live under an unstable roof and cracked walls, he said, because there was no safer alternative.

This phenomenon has become so widespread, with the harsher winter weather causing more building collapses, that it recently prompted the Civil Defense authority to issue a statement warning people to stay away from unsafe structures.
