More from my interview with Zelenskyy and on the intel intercepted by Kyiv about Russia's winter attack plans. Attacks concentrated on Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv to isolate them, sow chaos, spark a new flood of refugees. Also: Russia wants to sever Ukraine's nuclear facilities from the energy grid.

There was a level of cohesion when Starmer was floundering, and they were appealing to homeless labour voters. Now Burnham looks a little more effective, the Greens appear to have lost their collective plops. But it might explain where some of the Labour party membership went post Corbyn. Sigh

Generally speaking this is obviously true. I guess the guardrail (and I'm not sure I mean this positively) is the actual money to spend or money to borrow-spend. Because if you don't have that the Keynesian model can't work. And the government have clearly decided to reduce the number of unis.

England is a made up thing. It has no basis in the ineluctable laws of nature. Its extent is defined by Edward II getting his arse handed to him. Athelstan conquering York. The Welsh of Cumbria were incorporated, the Welsh of Gwynedd were not. It is a political idea, an aspiration - not taxonomy.
