yesterday holly put on some "cat tv" videos up for vinnie and sunny, and vinnie quickly realised that sunny not giving a shit about personal space doesn't stop at people.

and just like that i'm back off adhd meds. the new ones, even on a lower dosage, were taking my blood pressure and pulse to dangerous levels and i need to be especially careful of that with my migraines. i really appreciate the titration team for being so quick and hands-on with me though.

Some of my favourite art from 2024!

The Ghost Buckeye (Junonia prosopon), descended from a species driven extinct by habitat loss, evolved to ward off humans.
When spotted, they display the uncanny face-like patterns on their wings. This image has inspired folklore stories, marking whole areas of forest as haunted.

Bloodbark trees are prized for their exotic red wood. Also called Murder Trees, they produce large volumes of sap that imitates blood.
Those who strike it become convinced they are killing a person. This is thought to be an adaptation that helps Bloodbarks survive in a deforested world.

Cuscuta haemotrophica, commonly known as leechweed, is the only parasitic plant known to target animals.
The vine digs under the skin to consume the host's blood, making photosynthesis unnecessary.
Infestation in humans rarely progresses to the blooming stage, when it can become life-threatening.

The oldest known instance of the "Cool S", a symbol of unknown origin, on a tenth century Viking runestone.
This sigil has persisted through millennia and is still found today. Scholars believe its origin is unrelated to the letter S, and that it was originally part of a ritual.

art vs artist 2024 getting a job in a bookshop allowed me to accept and start to recover from some intense creative burnout, to the point i only made 10 pieces this year i'm finally starting to feel like i can do more arty things next year though :)
