yesterday holly put on some "cat tv" videos up for vinnie and sunny, and vinnie quickly realised that sunny not giving a shit about personal space doesn't stop at people.

vinnie the ginger moggy and sunny the calico kitten are watching a video on tv that features birds, squirrels etc. sunny is climbing on vinnie's back to get a better viewing angle.

when we first got sunny i looked into some stereotypes for calico girls and the most consistent ones were "divas who don't understand personal space" and i have no idea what they were talking about

whenever sunny "misbehaves" we've started full-naming her, and i don't think there's ever been a less threatening name than sunshine crypt

just over a month since we picked up sunny 🌞 she is the cutest and cuddliest little creature of all time but she is also an absolute menace who stresses us out daily, and we wouldn't have it any other way

art vs artist 2024 getting a job in a bookshop allowed me to accept and start to recover from some intense creative burnout, to the point i only made 10 pieces this year i'm finally starting to feel like i can do more arty things next year though :)

a collage of 9 images in the "art versus artist" style. the images are:
1. a small horned heart on a grey background. the heart is orange and says "halloween" in yellow.
2. a handpainted wooden hand. the hand is purple with a pink and red themed monster mouth dominating the surface area of the hand.
3. a small horned heart on an orange background. the heart is a light yellow and says "pumpkin spice" in brown in the centre.
4. a small painting of one of my "plant pot people" which has one eye and lots of simple pointed teeth.
5. a selfie taken when i was very sweaty and waiting for the bus. it is taken from a low angle and i am looking to my right.
6. a drippy horned heart against a trippy black and grey background. the heart is drawn in oranges and pinks.
7. a small drawing of a horned heart against a black background. the heart has "horror" written on it in the friday the 13th font and colour scheme.
8. a handpainted wooden hand that is painted mostly black, save for a red and pink zombie themed monster mouth in the centre of the hand.
9. a small drawing of a horned heart with a black background. the heart is a light purple and says "spooky season" in a light green font.

an a4 drawing of a jaggy horned heart with "cherry coke" written inside the heart in the old 90s style cherry coke font. the background of the heart is an extension of the old cherry coke can design. in the background of the photo are a selection of houseplants.

an a3 drawing of a jaggy skull on a wooden table. the background of the skull is painted to look like a sepia tone from light yellow into a dark brown at the edges. the skull has a spiral in the forehead and the jaggy lines are dripping down the skull.

A screenshot from Goodreads, entitled "2024: My Year in Books" which says 32,939 pages read and 151 books read

there's a post going round twitter asking people to quote with their most popular art of the year, but i only made 3 new pieces this year so i may as well share all of them still a horror artist at heart, despite slowing down due to burnout

an a3 sized, sepia-toned drawing of a skull with a spiral in the forehead. there are lots of lines dripping down the face. the inspirations for this piece were junji ito's uzumaki and the film "the cabinet of dr caligari"

a handpainted model hand, with a candy-inspired monster mouth with lots of thin candy teeth in the main section. the wrist and fingers also feature more teeth as a little motif. the colour scheme is a muted pink with a dark purple background.

a handpainted model hand on a bookshelf. the base colour for the hand is black, with red tones for the zombie-inspired monster mouth in the main section. the teeth are slimey. the wrist features more teeth and the fingers are wrapped in more slime details.

made a couple of pixel halloween hearts today. thinking of making something like the spooky one into a layered woodcut 🎃 #art #artist

foreground: a hand holding a drawing of a love heart with horns, with the word "spooky" inside in a pixellated font. the heart is light purple with darker purple shadows, the writing is light green with darker green shadows and the background is painted orange and black. background: a selection of houseplants on a shelf, illuminated by a purple light
