Sarky, not snarky. Human factors professional, with side interest in Dobcross looms, European train journeys, MG cars, and finding footpaths in Mid Wales. Occasionally dabbles in Anglican liturgy, although it's probably best not to ask.

Return journey commenced with a problem: the train from Ljubljana to Villach is delayed by 32 minutes, meaning we will miss our connection to Munich. Ah well: there are contingencies. Wörgle, here we come!
A view of the new station complex at Ljubljana, still under construction. The sun is glinting off the shiny roof panels

" can you put a couple lions in your painting of the Garden of Eden? You can do lions, right?"
A couple of lions in a painting of the Garden of Eden. Their faces are alarmingly human.

On the BBC News Katya Adler has just described Germany, where the far right AFD keep winning elections, as entering 'uncharted political territory'. Hmmm. Where Germany is concerned I think that territory is pretty well charted.

Pretty? Yes. But the bastard bells start ringing at 6:30 every morning.
The church of St Anthony in Pula. The morning sun is obscured by the bell tower, which has a halo effect. All very pretty.

Currently having a vaguely interesting locally brewed APA at Tolkien's House in Zagreb. Oddly, last time I was here, it was on the other side of the old town. Probably something to do with elven magic.
Seating outside a bar in Zagreb, which is loosely themed around JRR Tolkien. Myn can be seen wearing a red dress in the foreground.

Does anyone know what alphabet this is in, or what it says? It is inside Zagreb Cathedral, so may be early glagolitic or something.

Ul. Vjenceslava Novaka in Zagreb, just East of the cathedral has many 1920s art nouveau buildings in various states if repair after 2020 earthquake. But they are quite lovely and very peaceful.

An AI flyer is a brown M&M test. If your event or business is cutting corners by using an AI flyer, where else are you cutting corners? What else are you cheating out on? Why should I be bothered to go somewhere you couldn't be bothered to promote with a little of your own personality?

We're departing from Paris Est on time, but have already been informed that it will be 17 minutes late into Mannheim and we will miss our connection. Let's hope that the connecting train is also delayed!

You notice a beautiful woman wearing a t-shirt that says "My eyes are up here." But you look up and see she's wearing sunglasses that say "No, higher than that." Her hat says "Keep going." Eventually, you notice her long eyestalks and huge shell, but by then, it's too late. It's snail time.

I should say that I lived Tim Curry in almost everything I saw him in. He always made his presence felt, even with minimal input from the script. Congo is a case in point: a routine adventure flick, but heightened by his _knowingly _ over the top performance and obvious demise. 1/2

I'm weirdly fond of his performance in Congo. He is literally there just to say stupidly obvious things, but he does it with such style. He's the best thing about a resolutely mediocre movie.

I have enormous sympathy with people angry that the political vandalism of our prison system is forcing the (even earlier) release of prisoners. It is a scandal. But deciding who does and does not get released on the basis of the volume of public outcry at their crime is the road to madness.
