Can we talk about how shitty juries are and the limits of training police in how to respond to sexual assault or domestic violence when the case has to be picked up by the (elected) DA and approved by a grand jury full of regular people yet or no?

Turns out, political science deciding that all our intro to gov will gloss over the fact that the bill of rights were ignored for 100 years and the rights guaranteed by the actual constitution were ignored (habeas, right to travel) to ensure property rights over slaves. We should be teaching Prigg.

I could see this in the case of say, Kushner or the guy that brought the WuTang album, but why release people at all if you’re doing this to regular folks? It’s already hard enough to get a job with a record, and if you manage it, they fuck you over again. Why bother at that point?

I dont know what take i hate most: - top 40 country represents the true America - how have I, a hip, 38 year old not noticed cultural phenomenon X - how song/show/story x is part of my pet issue, but only based on the title or superficial reasons All I know is my mood today is basically:

AN IMPORTANT PSA ON ELLA LANGELY: All your discourse is wrong. You haven’t heard the hit song because everyone here is 38 (spiritually). Guess what demographic the hit charts aren’t for? You’re old. Get over it.

So the thing is many anti-ADHD treatment folks either don’t know anything about it OR think it’s still the 90s/early 2000s. They also think we’re just talking about kids. Turns out, I don’t need a random stranger to tell me about my medical treatment at my big age.

I got a text for my friend (whom I love so very much) that asked if I had ever seen an episode of The Simpsons. Since this was clearly a ridiculous statement, I responded with “no, I just became human yesterday.” Yeah, she was asking because she is a pod person that was born yesterday.

Also the thing about this is Louisiana’s last governor was a Dem. And yes he was a “pro-life” Dem but having him in office mattered. It was harm reduction and the state was better off for it. Now, they have a Dem running against a very unpopular Republican and… crickets.

Vought has the only overarching view of government in this admin. Everyone else took the deal that they get their thing if they ignore what’s happening elsewhere. So yeah, Miller’s plan hurts the economy, but the biz guys get no regulation- who cares if it’s incoherent? Vought just wants it broken.

Holy crap- 26 of y’all are following him and honestly some clearly have not connected the dots. Anyway, name is there, and while they don’t have their location in their profile, they do have it in their linktree where they proudly boast of moving from Arizona after so many years at UW. Allegedly.

All these models assume normal conditions, which includes things like big companies and financial markets actually exerting pressure and doing things. Instead they decided they could ride Trump out, profit, and let others ta— oh holy shit it’s just the goddamn collective action problem again.

Just discovered some articles on how hotness of a politician correlates with their media coverage: hotness was determined by what seems to be a hot or not system judge by students. I fear my senior thesis student’s topic might have changed.

Mea culpa y’all: I’ve been questioning why New England isn’t littered with cancer alleys like the area I grew up, forgetting that everything is a monkey’s paw wish today. So now, the government has heard me and decided I was right: it is unequal and unfair, so now, everyone gets a cancer alley!

I actually do not know if I saw it live or not. I know I was in study hall, I went to the library bc Mrs. T hadn’t turned on the TV, and the TV was on in the library. The question is did I go before or after the announcement that the US was under attack?

Inspired by @sethjmeyer.bsky.social, I decided to use Boudreau and Thibodeau’s Guide to New York cooking to make some bagels and lox. Bagel was kinda mushy, but still delicious!
A very serious attempt at a bagel and not an attempt to make a Benedict Arnold feel the same knife he stuck into my heart when I saw he made red beans using someone’s else recipe and included red -what- Rice.
