They have rose-pink feathers on their nape that open to a beautiful rosette shape to impress mates. I was once treated to the full display by a male using a bird bath...

If you dont have parents its hard & expensive to get your license. Not driving impacts your ability to get a good job, education etc. Theres a program run by vic roads that helps young folks without parents to learn to drive. You can volunteer to teach them here: transport.vic.gov.au/road-and-act...

TAC L2P Program

A TAC-funded program to help eligible learners gain driving experience by matching them with a fully licensed volunteer mentor and an L2P car.

I remember him at the MCG Test in 1979. Struck on the head by a Rodney Hogg bouncer. Popped up grinning, rubbing his head (no helmet) while the Australians milled around looking concerned, and Hoggy pawed the ground at the top of his run-up. Then Viv calmly hooked him into Bay 13.

7Mate runs a program called Outback Wreckers and one of the guys travels all over the Western Desert picking up Land Cruiser wrecks to be shipped to the Middle East. This footage had placed his business model in a whole new context.

In a bookshop in Bright years ago I saw "The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte" by Karl Marx, plus someone's 1920-ish description of a post-Communist utopia 100 years in the future. Still regret not buying them... :)

Bi-mode trains would have to run via the tunnel, so would need CBTC and doors aligned to the platform screens, which will take longer than expanding Sunshine and electrifying to Melton.

If you attach your car rego to your account, and stop using another eTag if you have one, the toll roads will photograph your number plate and bill your account accordingly. There's a small surcharge (I think it's 25c per toll) if you're not using a tag, but it should use up the balance that way.

3) Biology is at the centre of a BUNCH of current global political debates. Not just racism and eugenics, but also gender essentialism, blood-and-soil nativism, vaccine rejectionism, anti-modern fad diets, climate change, environmentalism, etc. Biological literacy is CRITICAL to being a good citizen

Couple thoughts on the recent resurgence of "scientific" racism. 1) This is usually treated as a science=head/humanities=heart problem. It is increasingly clear that this is a false framing. Lot of major players are emerging within the humanities (esp phil. depts). Biosci is largely steering clear

The last 2 digits of the C2 trams' numbers were allocated in Mulhouse, but they couldn't use the full Mulhouse numbering because they were numbered in the 2000s, so 2013 had to become 5113 so it didn't clash with a B-class tram.

In the 70s Jack and Lindsay Cupper put out a book called Hawks In Focus, with photos they took of every Australian raptor species at the nest. To get them they drove a 2WD XC Falcon ute (red ofc) all over the Outback with a tower strapped to the back that they set up their bird hide on.
