Committing the sin of empathy every chance I get. We are the Universe trying to figure itself out. Some parts are more curious than others. Trying to increase my self awareness daily. I do math in pen.

Also reminder the best help for food pantries, or people struggling or any 'need' is cold hard cash. Always. Always always always. Food pantries can make that money stretch MUCH BETTER THAN YOU CAN, and it'll go to their most urgent needs. I mean, the other stuff is great too but cash is king

Wake up, babe. The Prime Minister just dropped “hydronym”.
The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.

The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.

We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.

Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.

A gentle reminder when this world is really infuriating or depressing you: there are still books. They won’t solve all the planet’s problems — unless, maybe, you read them. And, regardless, the studies show that books make us happy. And empathetic. And more knowledgeable.

Pediatrician Dr. Mildred Stahlman revolutionized the care of premature infants (incl a miniature iron lung). She spent her career at #Vanderbilt U. Med Center & is credited w/ establishing the world's first modern Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She died #OTD 2024. #WomenInSTEM #medsky (1/3)
A black-and-white historical photograph of Dr. Mildred Thornton Stahlman (1922–2024), the visionary pediatrician who founded the world's first modern Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Seen from the waist up, Dr. Stahlman stands in a hospital setting, cradling a newborn infant gently but securely in her hands. She wears a protective medical scrub gown over a collared shirt and tie, her hair neatly pulled back, revealing a focused, deeply compassionate expression as she looks down at the baby. The infant, wrapped in a small cloth, rests fragilely against her forearms. The background is a softly blurred hospital nursery or NICU, featuring medical equipment, charts on a bulletin board, and another figure indistinctly visible, emphasizing her daily clinical environment. The composition is intimate and tightly framed, casting a poignant, reverent mood that highlights her lifelong dedication to pioneering neonatal care and saving infant lives.
