For biggest glow-up, it’s either the Commander or the Summit! The Commander is far from its original version. The jealousy mechanic, its defining feature, came late in development. The Summit needing the most polish wasn’t a surprise. In the end, it’s the mechanic I had the least precedent for

I’ve been stewing long and hard on this one. The mechanic that changed the least is the way moving the flying city works, I think. To be transparent, that might be less because the rules are perfect and more because people find they have enough to occupy themselves in the city on a first playthrough

The part of the game that was the most fluid and ever-shifting, though, was undoubtedly the Summit. Finding a way to make the votes and political moves of a city council meeting mechanically significant afterward was a consistent challenge that saw a lot of revisions

The Locksmith, for example, went through revisions latest in the game and those revisions deeply altered that archetype’s core loop and thematic focus, taking them from a wizard protecting against extraplanar entities to a sorcerous smuggler sneaking them in

Another great question! Effectively every character class went through comprehensive rewrites and redesigns at least once during the campaign. Fairly little ever changed about them aesthetically or narratively, but the bones beneath many of them shifted a ton.

2. When you’re trying to make an asymmetrical competitive TTRPG, keeping classes balanced and evocative mechanically can be a real challenge! The more we played, the more I realized the game could survive quirkier, more asymmetrical play and that it would be better for it!

Man what a good question! I’m torn between two options: 1. During the first playtest, @dngnclub.itch.io called out that the game’s would be a lot more fun if the tower’s citizens could beseech the players as they rule. This was a really pivotal moment in designing the summit. (1 of 2 posts)

Can someone explain the new “reserve your pledge” emails when pre-saving a product on BackerKit or Kickstarter? The trinkets that used to come with early pledging are now gatekept behind $3 reservation charges. Idk what we’re reserving. Will you limit pledges? Can I not support your game?

Symbaroum’s 5E conversion Bestiary was amazing. Every “monster” has at least one adventure pitch included with it that makes the creature a viable core for a campaign arc Depending on what your aims are, Flee, Mortals! remains a major inspiration for my monster design aspirations
