Vividly remember canvassing a woman who angrily told me that I’d made it impossible for her to drive to Sainsbury’s, when I could see a large Sainsbury’s local literally at the end of her road.

It’s quite simple. The Conservatives are not fit to be a potential party of Government. You can’t fit the number of ways this is deeply damaging, unfair and stupid into a single social media post.

My dad bought a house with speakers in the ceiling of every room. He asked me how he should play music through them. I took him to John Lewis and we bought a couple of Sonos speakers. This was in 2018. What the builders were doing God only knows.

Rui Pinto has done football a service
Morning all. There’s only one place to start this morning, and that’s with the story that Man City have been found guilty on all but one of the 115 charges that have been pending for so long. First, what a scoop it is from David Ornstein. 🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City found guilty on virtually all […] The post Rui Pinto has done football a service appeared first on Arseblog ... an Arsenal blog.

This 🧵 helps explain the reaction of some cyclists to the recent conversation here about cyclist behaviour. While it’s true that some cyclists behave badly and that’s unpleasant for pedestrians, while we have a moral panic about that we accept deaths caused by bad driving:

I see a lot of people complaining about the undoubtedly stressful conditions at present on London's roads. But I see few people complaining about motor vehicles. Yet in the last 24 hours three vulnerable road users have died after being hit by people driving motor vehicles.

As someone who’s worked on designing measures, usually we try and ensure they’re less flawed than this. It’s a good idea, but it needs more work.

Canada Water Decathlon is less than two minutes walk from Canada Water tube station. Feels like this measure has been so badly designed it’s irrelevant.

A #WarOnWalking. A war on biking. A war on public transit. A war on any transportation choice other than driving. A war on better cities. But a war on cars? Hardly. Cars still get most of the space, rights, budget, prioritization, etc. And any effort to add more choice is immediately attacked.

I may get shouted out for this, but it's a real observation: Polanski has a pattern of behaviour of making trouble for himself by telling fibs when he absolutely doesn't need to do so. He lies reflexively and then creates several more news cycles as a result.

Every place that regulates cycling ends up just seeing cycling numbers plummet, with no effect on the problem it’s trying to solve.
100
Richard Leeming @richardleeming.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
The *only* state in the world to demand licenses to ride a bike is North Korea and even in the world most repressive state that regulation is widely flouted.
100
Richard Leeming @richardleeming.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
We make regulations to deal with actual tangible problems, not the perception of problems. Both physics and statistics tells us that there is no tangible problem created by bad cycling. Yes it’s irritating, but your solution is a sledgehammer to crack a tiny nut.
100
Richard Leeming @richardleeming.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
How, exactly would you enforce that? It’s an incredibly expensive solution which will fail to solve a problem that doesn’t exist.
