For all that it's been barely reported in the UK press, it's still hard to understate the importance of the stance @labourunionsuk.bsky.social has taken on trans and non-binary rights this week. Every single trade union affiliated to the party of government has stood up and said we will not comply.

I'm not filled with confidence since Mahmood is still talking about making these reforms "fair" to British citizens & saying that immigrants still have to prove to be making a economic contribution (which the current ILR process already requires those on work visas to do, but apparently not enough).

Labour is not opening new safe routes. This latest measure is reopening a route they closed and making it more restrictive. This follows claiming they were opening new community sponsorship and work/study routes which already existed but they made harder to access. It's smoke and mirrors. #r4today
